We continue our celebration of Easter by hearing more
stories from the early church. We who have completed our
Lenten journey of renewal, as well as those who are newly
baptized, can together hear these stories and use them to
deepen our own faith.

In the first reading next Sunday, Peter clearly takes on the
role of shepherd, encouraging conversion and faith among
his listeners. Let us listen for God’s invitation to follow the
Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

held recently by the American Red Cross (Mountain
Empire), Merylen Ott received a Community Impact Hero
award. Congratulations Merylen!! May God bless you for
your efforts to help those in need in our community.

MEN of ST. JOACHIM will meet this Tuesday
morning, May 2, in the office conference room at 6 a.m. For
more information about this men’s group which gathers for
prayer and sacrifice, talk with Seminarian Jamie.
Vacation Bible School 2017 At Mighty Fortress VBS, your children will learn that in
Jesus, the victory is won! They’ll look into the Bible, God’s
Holy Word, and explore five Bible accounts about God, our
Mighty Fortress, and the victory Jesus has won for us. The
Mighty Fortress will be opening on June 19 until June 23
from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Please mark your calendars and
watch for registration material so your children do not miss
the wonderful opportunity.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
(RCIA) Catechumens and Candidates will attend OREMUS,
Wednesday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the Great Room.
Inquirers also meet this Wednesday at 6:30 in the
Conference room. Please come to the Great Room for
opening prayer before going to the conference room.
Mystagogy will attend OREMUS this week.

Parish Nurse Position St. Mary’s Catholic Church (Johnson City, TN) is seeking a
Parish Nurse to serve part-time (20 hours/wk. for a
stipend). The ideal candidate must be an RN with an active
license in the State of Tennessee and 3-5 years nursing
experience. He/she must have excellent organizational,
communication and pastoral skills and be able to participate
in the full sacramental life of the Church. The Parish Nurse
will be called to minister to the people of St. Mary’s as
advocate, resource person, liaison and an integrator of faith
and healing. Training and supervision will be through the

Third Sunday of Easter
BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN
The Baby Bottle Campaign, sponsored by the Catholic
Daughters of the Americas (CDA) and St. Anne’s Senior
High Youth Ministry (SHYM) begins in May. 100% of
collections benefit Abortion Alternatives, who provide
assistance to women in the Bristol TN/VA area who choose
the gift of life. Next weekend (May 6/7), a large Baby
Bottle will be available in the Commons for your
donations. Small Baby Bottles for individual contributions
are available from Carol Reynolds or Sydney Farnum. If
you give a check, please make it payable to “CDA”.
ALSO: If you want to pray for a baby in danger of abortion
through the Spiritual Adoption Program, you may pick up
an information packet at any CDA meeting. Spiritual
Adoption is sponsored by CDA and St. Anne’s Respect
Life Committee.
New members are always welcome at CDA and the Respect
Life Committee. Respect Life Committee, however, is open
to both women and men and the next quarterly meeting is
July 8 at 10:30 a.m. in the office conference room.
St. Anne School 5K is May 13! Mark your calendars! The St. Anne School annual 5K run
is scheduled for May 13 on the Abingdon Creeper Trail. We
are looking for sponsors and participants. This is the
Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend. We have planned a
Mother’s Day theme with a special T-shirt design and a
special treat for all the “Moms” who participate. If
interested in being a sponsor, please contact the school at
