Creating a Description and Online Network Path To create a description and an online network path from your network, perform the following actions: 1. Start RSNetWorx for DeviceNet software. 2. From the Network menu, select PropertiesThe network properties window opens. 3. In the Description text box, type a description of the network. Important: Do not attempt to type a name in the Name text box at this time; the software will not accept it. For help naming the network, see the Creating a Network Name sub-procedure. 4. Click Set Online PathThe Browse for network window opens. 5. If you have not yet configured a DeviceNet driver, configure it now. Tip: For help, see the Configuring a Driver to Go Online to a DeviceNet Network procedure. 6. From the list of drivers, select the driver you want to go online with. 7. Click OK. The online network path is created and the Browse for network closes. 8. Click OK. The network properties window closes. 9. Save the network configuration. Creating a Network Name To create a name for a network configuration, perform the following actions: 1. Open the RSNetWorx for DeviceNet network configuration for which you want to create a network name. 2. From the File menu, select Save As3. In the File name text box, type the new network name. 4. Click Save. The new network name is save and the Save As dialog box closes. The new name will be displayed in the Name text box of the network properties window the next time it is accessed.

Configuring Network Properties
