• Launched in 1987
• Turnkey delivery of academic degree programs via cable television
• Partners included: Penn State, George Washington University, University of Maryland, University of Arizona, California State University, University of Colorado
• In 1992, when less than 20% of Americans used e-mail or the Internet, ME/U collaborated with George Washington University to launch the first degree program to utilize computers as the primary communications technology
