PRAYER OF THE DAY
God of love and mercy, we call to mind
before you those whom we sometimes
forget or ignore or avoid or just don't
see: those who are homeless, hungry,
sick, isolated, imprisoned, poor, lonely,
hopeless and hurting in any way. Fill us
with compassion that we may respond in
love as you call us to. May our eyes see
and our ears hear what you do. May our
words and our actions express your
compassion Lord use us to bless others
with your mercy. We pray this in Jesus’
name. Amen.

Most volunteers deliver once a month but that is entirely up to you your availability.

Caring Companion
Ministry News Calvary’s Caring Companion Ministry is a partnership with the Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers organization. We do not provide hands-on care, but through a half-day training provided by IVC, volunteers are equipped to offer transportation, friendly visits, and respite visits to elderly and disabled people both within and beyond our congregation. Two events in February will highlight the work and opportunities of Caring Companion Ministry at Calvary-and we welcome new people to join us at either or both of these events to learn more about the who-what-when-where-why-and how of this very rewarding ministry. Staff contact: Cindy Dixon, church office Extension #216.
Learn More About
Caring Companion Ministry During the 11AM Sunday, February 26, worship time at Calvary-Clarkston, the Caring Companion Ministry Team will be available to answer questions & share stories of real life CC volunteer experiences, in preparation for a volunteer training to be scheduled in March 2017. See Cindy Dixon or Leslie Welbourn for more information. Staff contact: Cindy Dixon, 248-625-3288 Extension #216.
56th Annual Congregational Meeting
The 56th Annual Congregation meeting will be held after each worship service on Sat. Feb. 4 and Sun. Feb 5. Please plan to be with us as we affirm the 2017 General Operating Budget spending plan, elect Church Council members, vote on calling former intern Kate Zywicki to a 3 year 3/4 time term call as Associate Pastor and discuss the future of Calvary’s ministries.
The Miracle of Mercy
Sermon Series The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. Psalm 145:8
The Bible tells us that “God is love.” (1 John 4) Sadly, all too often God is portrayed as a God of anger and judgment. But God is first and foremost a God of abundant mercy and grace, patience and steadfast love. When God gave Moses the Ten Commandments we read, “The Lord passed before him, and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness…” (Exodus 34:6) In describing God’s character the word MERCY comes up frequently. Likewise mercy is a key character trait God wants to develop in us. God is merciful to us and God wants us to be merciful to others too. Throughout this 6 week sermon series and Growth Group semester we will look together at what mercy is and explore together how the five marks of mercy: mercy forgives the fallen, helps the hurting, is patient with difficult people, is kind to enemies, and cares for the lost. Inspired by The Miracle of Mercy series from Rick Warren we pray that God will help us grow along the Spiritual Growth Pathway and learn how we can live with greater MERCY (love in action) in our daily lives.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Matthew 5:7
