Conference Scheduling Lifehack
Exporting Shed’s iCal information in Google Calendar

• First log into your Sched account
• Click on your schedule which is in the upper left-hand side

• Click on iCal in the upper right-hand side

• Save it locally (I’d suggest your computer’s desktop)

• Login to Google and go to My Account

• Click on Calendar

• Select Settings in the upper right-hand side

• Select the Calendars tab

• Select Import Calendar

• Click on the Browse button
• Locate your iCal file (ICS file extension)
• Select which calendar to upload it to
• Then click on the Import button

• You should receive a confirmation page like this

• Your Google calendar should now have the events you’ve scheduled in Shed

But what if you want reminders sent to
your mobile phone?
Easy enough…

• Go back to Settings and Click on the Mobile Setup tab
• Follow the instructions to add your phone if you haven’t already
• Keep in mind that you may accrue charges if you are not on a text messaging plan with your carrier. For me (Verizon), that’s 0.10 per message.

• You should see this screen once your phone has been verified
• VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure to change the drop down menu from Pop-up to SMS.

• Of course there are other free online apps besides Google Calendar
• Two of the more popular ones that you can upload an iCal file to and receive SMS reminders are – CalendarHub (http://www.calendarhub.com) – and 30 Boxes (http://30boxes.com)
