Experience Kaiteriteri, New Zealand’s premiere coastal outdoor recreation destination.

Location

Welcome to KaiteriteriJust a 45 minute drive from Nelson airport, and gateway to the world renowned Abel Tasman National Park, the Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve is a unique and ideal destination to host your next conference or meeting. Perfect for corporate executives, professionals, clients, community groups as well as those looking to refine their teamwork and hone their skills, we are no stranger to playing an important role in helping others achieve their goals and express their ideas.

In addition to significant conservation and cultural assets, the Reserve’s beach was voted as one of the top five in the world by the United Kingdom’s Guardian newspaper. Kaiteriteri is the perfect place to visit throughout the year for work, relaxation or if you are seeking world class mountain biking, boating, sailing, kayaking, fishing and hiking.

Abel tasman national ParkThe Abel Tasman National Park was established in 1942 and is located at the top of the South Island between Kaiteriteri and Takaka.

Features of the park include golden sandy beaches, amazing granite, limestone and marble rocky outcrops and the rich, unmodified estuaries.

Beautiful forest birds like tui and bellbirds can be seen along with pukeko around the estuaries and wetlands. In 1993 the Tonga Island Marine Reserve was cerated along one part of the Abel Tasman Coast.

A unique, coastal national park.

Waka Abel tasman A truly unique experience

Waka (Māori canoes) are the living expression of a people who sailed the Pacific Ocean for thousands of years. As the only form of transport across oceans and waterways, waka were vital for travel and trade.

By paddling in our double-hulled (waka tuarua) or single-hulled outrigger canoes (waka ama), you share in New Zealand’s treasured heritage. Waka is an inclusive experience where everyone can feel the joy of working as part of a team.

We begin and end all our trips with a blessing (karakia) for protection. You will learn the etiquette (tikanga) associated with waka before becoming familiar with the boat and embarking on our journey (haerenga).

Come join us for a truly unique cultural experience.
