COSMETEX 2016 CONFERENCE INFORMATION & REGISTRATION4

ABOUT THE AUSTRALASIAN COLLEGE OF COSMETIC SURGERYEstablished in 1999, the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery (ACCS) is a not-for-profit, multi-disciplinary fellowship based body of general surgeons, cosmetic surgeons, plastic surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, dermatologists, ear nose and throat surgeons, ophthalmologists and other doctors and health care practitioners who practice in cosmetic medicine and surgery.

The primary goal of the ACCS is to ensure the safe provision of cosmetic medicine and cosmetic surgical procedures to the Australian general community through the supply of appropriately trained and certified health care practitioners.

The College also seeks to work cooperatively with government and other stakeholders to improve standards and safety and to educate health care consumers. Its Fellows and spokespeople are regularly quoted in the media and consulted by federal and state health and consumer regulators.

The ACCS is the only medical college which provides education and training leading to fellowship specifically in cosmetic medicine and surgery. Fellows of the College are medical doctors who have completed post-graduate education and training and demonstrated competency specifically in cosmetic medicine and surgery. To become an ACCS Fellow, doctors must typically complete a minimum of 12 years of medical and surgical education and training.

CONFERENCE MANAGERS International Conferences & Events (ICE) has been appointed as the official Professional Conference Organiser (PCO) of Cosmetex 2016. ICE Australia specialises in managing Conferences and Exhibitions for the association and not-for-profit sector.

A WELCOME FROM THE PRESIDENTInnovation and excellence is achieved when we bring the world’s best practitioners together in a contemporary, multidisciplinary educational forum.

That’s why we’ve been successfully hosting Australasia’s premier conference in cosmetic medical practice each year since 1999.

Cosmetex provides a unique forum for us to get together, share our experiences and learn from each other.

As cosmetic medical and cosmetic surgical procedures are ever more in demand, the need to stay abreast of developments in the industry and stay ahead of the hype is intensified.

Raising standards and protecting patients is the ethos of the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery.

I’m sure you’ll be impressed when you see the range of topics covered in our program – there are gems waiting for you to take away.

Of course, no conference is complete without the social aspect – designed especially for you to enjoy the company of old friends and new.

COSMETEX16 is the one event on the cosmetic surgical and cosmetic medical calendar not to be missed.

I look forward to personally welcoming you to sparkling Sydney this May.

Ron BezicPresident, ACCS

COSMETEX 2016 CONFERENCE INFORMATION & REGISTRATION6

A WELCOME FROM THE SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM CHAIRCosmetic Medicine and Surgery has grown very rapidly in Australia in the past 2 decades, not only in the number of procedures that we do but also in the complexities of the procedures that we do. New products and new devices are introduced into the cosmetic market each year. It is essential for cosmetic practitioners to keep up to date with the latest trends and current techniques in the procedures that we are involved in. Attending conferences like Cosmetex also means you get the opportunity to stay in touch with your colleagues in the same field. At the same time you get to see and pick up some tips on how to improve your techniques from local and international experts. This year we are concentrating on more interactive sessions in all the major areas of cosmetic medicine and surgery because we feel that while it is great to listen to the experts, it is even greater if we can participate in the sessions that we have chosen to attend by being able to engage in a face to face dialogue with them.

I am sure you will find this year’s Cosmetex scientific program stimulating. Don’t forget to introduce your friends and colleagues to Cosmetex which remains the premier conference for all cosmetic practitioners in Australasia. The program caters for the beginners as well as the advanced practitioners in the field. I will be surprised if you don’t walk away with something that will be of use to you in your own practice at the end of the three days.

I look forward to welcoming you in person during the conference.
