THE Scottish Borders is a region of unspoilt beauty and the gateway to Scotland. It is an area of contrasts, with moorland and gently
rolling hills in the West giving way to rich agricultural lands and the rocky Berwickshire coastline in the East. Through the heart of the region flows the River Tweed, providing magnificent views and some of the best fishing in Scotland. The idyllic setting of the Scottish Borders offers superb opportunities for a whole range of sporting and leisure pursuits and attracts golf, cycling, fishing and walking enthusiasts. This once fierce frontier land has many castles, abbeys and stately homes which remain a poignant reminder of a more turbulent past. Today the Borders is more famous for the friendliest of welcomes, along with a reputation for producing some of the finest textiles in the world.
The groundbreaking Scottish Borders Campus hosts two institutions: Borders College and Heriot-Watt University’s world renowned School of Textiles and Design. The unique combination of an academic environment surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain makes Scottish Borders Campus the ideal base for combining event activities and leisure.

Audio Visual FacilitiesA wide range of AV facilities are provided across the Campus, from general purpose class/lecture rooms to more specialised areas where more advanced equipment is installed.All meeting rooms are equipped with Smartboard interactive displays (data/video projection) running from a front of house networked computer. In many rooms, a number of networked computers can be provided for delegates.Voice reinforcement is also available in the larger rooms if required. Multifunction networked printing devices are provided.Room based video conferencing facilities are available on campus.Wi Fi is available across the Campus with guest log-ins available on request.All facilities are managed and supported in-house by a highly experienced team of professional technical staff who can provide specialist knowledge and advice.

The Restaurant
The Restaurant at Borders College is open most days of the week during term time for lunch and on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening for dinner. It is available to staff, students and members of the general public, producing finger buffets to 3 course banquets. Catering can also be provided in any Campus location or outwith the Campus.
All food on our menu is freshly prepared on a daily basis. It is our aim, as far as practically possible, to use only Scottish produce.

Aramark
Aramark provides the catering in the Union Café & Bar, and will quote for any kind of external events from working lunches to formal dinners.
Our Events Officer is able to source whatever specialised catering that you may require for your event.
During the months of June to August, the Halls of Residence of Heriot-Watt University at the Scottish Borders Campus offers affordable and spacious accommodation for groups.
The University has invested £12M in new state-of-the-art accommodation.

Additional services available include a shop, a cash point facility and ample free car parking. The Beauty Salon, Hairdressing Salon and The Restaurant are open most days of the week during term time. Due to the increasing popularity of the Salons and The Restaurant, it is advisable to book in advance.

The Campus is based in the hub of the Netherdale Sports facilities next to Trifitness, Galashiels Rugby Club, 3G Sports facilities and is only three miles away from the Tweedbank sports track.
Trifitness Centre, located next to the Campus, offers a wide range of the latest cardiovascular, resistance and free weight equipment, together with a purpose built dance studio complemented with a comprehensive group exercise class programme. It may also be possible to negotiate a rate for delegates to use the facilities at Trifitness.
Galashiels hosts a variety of restaurants, bars, a multi-screen cinema, swimming pool, 3G pitches, sports centre, running track and two golf courses.
Melrose, a popular village, is two miles away with its picturesque Abbey and River walks. Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott, is a 10 minute walk from the Campus. Cycling enthusiasts are able to gain access to the Southern Upland Way on their doorstep.

By Road
Situated within the heart of Galashiels, Scottish Borders Campus is a one hour drive from Edinburgh. Three major road routes link the Scottish Borders to Central Scotland and the North of England, bringing Carlisle and Newcastle both within easy reach.
Some local bus services stop outside the Campus.
Distance from Edinburgh 33 miles, Glasgow 69 miles, Newcastle 70 miles.
By Train
Nearest railway stations are Edinburgh Waverley or Berwick Upon Tweed.
Direct buses from Edinburgh to Galashiels run every half-hour.
By Air
Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle international airports are all within a one or two hour drive. All airports have direct connections to national and worldwide destinations.
