Conditional Sentences

Conditional Sentences merupakan kalimat yangdigunakan untuk menyatakan pengandaian suatuperistiwa yang belum terjadi atau bahkan tidakmungkin terjadi. Kalimat pengandaian inimemiliki beberapa bentuk yang mewakiliberagam bentuk waktu, dengan kata lain, bentukkalimat pengandaian ini akan tergantung padabentuk waktu peristiwa yang diandaikan.

Conditional Sentences dibagi dalam 3 bentuk.

1. Future Conditional

Pengandaian ini menyatakan sesuatu yang mungkin terjadi pada waktu mendatang ataupunsekarang jika syarat/kondisi tertentu terpenuhi.

Rumus :

If + S + simple present, S + will + V1

Contoh :

If I get a high score in English, my mother will give me a new car (it means : There is a chance My Mother buys me a new car)

2. Unreal Present

Pengandaian ini menyatakan sesuatu yang bertentangan dengan apa yang ada/terjadisekarang.

Rumus :

If + S + simple past, S + would + V1

Contoh :

If I got a high score in English, my mother would give me a new car (It means : now I don’t get good score, so my mother doesn’t buy me a new car)

3. Unreal Past

Pengandaian ini menyatakan sesuatu yang bertentangan dengan apa yang telah terjadi(lampau).Rumus :If + S + had + V3, S + would + have V3Contoh :If I had got a high score in English, my mother would have given me a new car (it means : I didn’t get a good score, so my mother didn’t buy me a new car)

Subjunctive

Subjunctive digunakan untukmenyatakan/mengungkapkan kejadian, keinginan ataupun kenyataan yang bertentangan dengan apa yang sesungguhnyaada atau terjadi.

Subjunctive dibagi menjadi 3 yaitu :

1. Subjunctive WishFuture

Rumus :

S1 + wish + S2 + Could/Would + V1

Contoh :

I wish you would come to my party tonight (it means : tonight you won’t come to my party)

Present

Rumus :

S1 + wish + S2 + V2/Did/Were

Contoh :

I wish she were old enough to join this conference. (it means : she isn’t old enough to join this conference)

Past

Rumus :

S1 + wished + S2 + Had + V3

Contoh :

I wished that you had come early this morning. (it means : you didn’t come early in this morning)

2. Subjunctive As If/As Though

Present

Rumus:

S + V1 + As If/As though + S + V2

contoh:Karina walks as though she were a modeling (it means: karina isn’t a

modeling)

Past

Rumus:

S + V2 + As If/As Though + S + Had V3

Contoh:

Wilan looked as if he had seen a ghost (it means: Wilan didn’t look a ghost)

3. Subjunctive Would Rather

Present

Rumus:

S + would rather + S + were + time signal (waktu sekarang)

Contoh:

Afsa would rather that his mother were here now (it means: Afsamother’s isn’t here now )

Past

Rumus:

S + would rather + S + Had V3/Been + time signal (waktu lampau)

Contoh:

Andik would rather that his father had gone to America last week.

( It means: Andik father’s didn’t go to America last week)

Ada tiga susunan umum dalam menulis news item, berikut adalah generic structure dari News item :

• Main Events : Kejadian utama yang pantas dijadikan berita.

• Elaboration/ bacground events : Penjelasan mengenai latar belakang adanya peristiwa tersebut; orang-orang yang terlibat dalam peristiwa tersebut; tempat peristiwa terjadi; dan lain-lain..

• Resource of Information (Source) : Sumber berita; komentar para saksi; pendapat para ahli; dan lain-lain.

Pamekasan student wins math contest in Romania

Alyssa Diva Mustika, a student from Pamekasan Junior High School, East Java, won the gold medal at the International Mathematics Contest held in Romania between March 22 to 29, Antara news agency reported. (main events)

Speaking to journalists, Diva said she was glad that she had been able to win the competition, which she said had been very tight. “Thank God I won. I will study harder,” she said. (elaboration)

Indonesia sent 10 students to the competition in Romania. Diva is not the first Pamekasan student to win an international science competition. Oktavian Latief, a student from SMA Negeri 1 Pamekasan won gold at the International Physics Olympiad in 2006. Another student, Shohibul Maromi, won the same award in 2010. (elaboration)
