Principal’s Message Dear Parent/Carers,
NAPLAN Online Well done to all Year 3 and 5 students for completing the NAPLAN test
over the past 2 weeks. We must remember that these are assessments of
Literacy and Numeracy skills at a point in time. They provide the
government and educational services with insights around how our
students’ skill development is tracking.
Thank you to Mrs Kumar and Ms Bryce for having all the devices ready for the students and ensuring the smooth running of all the tests each day. COVID-19
As Australia continues to enjoy a relatively stable period in relation to
COVID-19 our thoughts go out to those around the world, in particular
for those in India who continue to be impacted by this pandemic. After
speaking with many Concord West families with Indian backgrounds, it is
devastating to hear that many of your family members and friends are
still struggling. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all families and friends
back home.
We take so much for granted and need to be thankful each day that we
are blessed to live in Australia.
Teacher appreciation week
Last week I visited all the classrooms and discussed what being ‘grateful’
and ‘being appreciative’ means with the students. In recognition of
Teacher Appreciation Week in May, I am confident that you will join me
in thanking all the staff for their hard work, care and commitment, which
they generously share and give each and every day.

School Improvement Plan
During the last 12 months each Government school has been working on developing a comprehensive Strategic
Improvement Plan (SIP). On our website, under the School Planning and Reporting tab, you will find Concord
West’s 2021-2024 Strategic Improvement Plan. This is a working document that outlines how Concord West will
further improve learning, teaching and leading in order to improve learning outcomes and growth of all students.
Rugby Australia
Concord West has been successful at receiving a Government grant from Sporting Schools NSW. This funding will
be used to give Year 2-6 students an opportunity to work with Rugby Australia on further developing the
students’ fundamental skills, teamwork and game sense. If you do not wish to have your child be involved in these
inclusive, safe and fun activities, please contact your child’s teacher.
Wishing you all a restful weekend. Ms Monica Cidem
