4.The Durkin Opening is a chess opening beginning

with the move 1. _____. It is named for Robert James Durkin of New Jersey.

It is rarely played at high levels as it goes against the basic principles of center control and active development.

While this opening may not get you much activity on the board, it is also named after a highly reactive metal with the atomic number 11.

What is the first move of this opening?

490mm, they bear the images of the club’s heroes and are made for each home game by a London-based company.

They cost the club £12,000 each time, meaning a total spend of £228,000 for the league campaign – a snip considering their apparent impact that has seen the club exceed all expectations this campaign.

The club’s stadium announcer said, “They were a hit immediately with the kids and the mums but now even the dads have joined in.”

6. X, who hails from the Andaman islands, was nine years old

when the devastating 2004 tsunami hit Port Blair and she had to spend over a week stuck in a tree until help arrived.

In October, she clinched five medals at the Taiwan Cup Track International Classic - a record gold in the women's elite sprint category - including a gold, three silver and a bronze.

Then in December she won three medals at the 2015 Track Asia Cup held in New Delhi.

In January, she created history again by qualifying for the 2016 Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Track Cycling World Championships for the first time in India's history, ahead of South Korea and Japan in the main draw.

10.The modern-day ______, was invented by Gallaudet

University quarterback Paul D. Hubbard in 1892. Gallaudet was among the first schools intended for the

education of deaf and hard-of-hearing students, and the first intended for their postsecondary education. When quarterbacking, Hubbard realized that his hand signals could be read by opposing players, a particular concern when Gallaudet played other schools for the deaf.

To remedy this, he had his players do something. This practice is now quite prevalent in modern sport all over the world.

11.He is one of the few modern English footballers to play for a

foreign club.He signed for Real Zaragoza and it was felt that he never

made any real effort to learn Spanish and, despite his qualities, rarely made any significant sort of contribution on the pitch in his 25 appearances. The club decided to wash their hands off him and he was sold after just one season.

Months later, in one barely believable final show of arrogance or, simply, ignorance, he was contacted by Real Zaragoza regarding a Porsche that had been left outside Zaragoza train station five months earlier. The footballer allegedly claimed to have forgotten he even owned it.

12.X, certainly one of India’s sporting greats, had led the Indian

football team on several occasions and won major events. She retired from international football after the final match between India and Nepal at the 12th South Asian Gamesheld in Shillong last month.

Former Lok Sabha Speaker Purno Agitok Sangma penned his last letter before his fatal heart attack to Home Minister Rajnath Singh, recommending an Arjuna award for X.

"He had recommended X’s name for the Arjuna award. I remember he told me that this Manipuri woman deserved the Arjuna award as she brought laurels to India on several occasions," said Sangma's close aide A. Rehman.

books courtesy his bat (surprisingly), against Zimbabwe at Sheikhupura.

To this day, it remains the highest score at number eight in Test cricket.

He broke many records on the way. While he still holds the record for the highest score at number eight, he also broke a long-standing record for the most sixes in a Test innings that was previously held by Wally Hammond and rather surprisingly, he still holds it to date.

15.In the past few years, there have been a growing

number of franchise-based sporting leagues in India, from cricket to kabaddi.

While they may cover a wide variety of sports, one thing that has been common is the poor performance of Delhi-based teams every season in every tournament.

However, there have been two occasions where the Delhi side have been crowned champions. First was in the 2014 Hockey India League and the second was as recent as the 2016 Premier Badminton League.

Name the two winning franchises.

16.He has made 11,196 career baskets. Not surprisingly,

11,195 of which have been 2-pointers. On Feb. 26, 1996, in a game against Milwaukee Bucks,

he received the ball well beyond the arc and hurled it towards the hoop. The ball somehow went in off the glass — not that he called it.

He has taken just 22 3-point attempts over the course of his career — averaging about one per year. His total 3-point percentage is .045, which is even less than one tenth of his .527 career free-throw percentage.

ending my career. While I believe that is possible if I play consistently for 10-12 years in the national side, there is another dream which I have.

Like Mashrafe bhai, I also believe that besides being a good cricketer, you have to be a good soul. I really admire the fighting spirit. That's why my favourite players are Shakib bhai and Yuvraj Singh.

The other people who I have followed are Sourav Ganguly and Brian Lara. When I started playing cricket I used to be a right-handed batsman. The centurions were soon handed _______, after groundsmen had done most of the hard work so that they could immortalize their innings at the City Oval and became the latest batsmen to have left their mark in the stadium.

2.Born in 1905 in Punjab, he worked as domestic help in the house

of Sir Umar Hayat Khan, where he ran daily errands for his royal master. His first breakthrough came when he was 21 years of age as he was adjudged the strongest player in the state, and just two years later, he won the All-India Championships with a remarkable score of 8.5 points of a possible nine.

Sir Umar then decided to take him to London, where he trained with some British masters and subsequently entered the British Chess Championship. He would go on to win the tournament three times in 1929,1932 and 1933 in a total of four attempts.

He had no theoretical knowledge of the game, did not understand English and was often sick during his time in England. In spite of all these drawbacks, he managed to play some of the greatest chess the world has ever seen and is often referred to as ‘the greatest natural player of modern times’.

Can you, X, forget the waves of ovation rising steam-like from that concrete copa called Kaloor stadium? That booming hum from the throats of thousands who thronged Kochi from all over Kerala in the November-December evenings last year? You said these heartily rooting crowds were bewildering.”

On 31 October 2012, Blackburn Rovers announced that he had accepted an offer for a three-year contract to manage the club and became Blackburn's first foreign manager. He then justified his previous comments by saying, “That was me looking at it from the outside without knowing really what was going on in the inside. I think this club at the moment is going in the right direction.”

He was a part of the Blackburn side that won the Premier League title and made nearly 300 appearances for them. He also won the PL with another side, making him the first player to win the title with two different clubs. He also has a total of 100 caps for the Norwegian national team.

13.It is a Japanese traditional game, similar to badminton without a net,

played with a rectangular wooden paddle called a hagoita and a brightly coloured shuttlecock.

Often played by girls at the New Year, the game can be played in two fashions: by one person attempting to keep the shuttlecock aloft as long as possible, or by two people batting it back and forth. Girls who fail to hit the shuttlecock get marked on the face with India Ink.

Traditionally, the longer the shuttlecock remains in the air, the greater protection from mosquitoes the players will receive during the coming year. Although it is not as popular as it used to be, decorative hagoita are commonly sold throughout Japan.

At the beginning of the game development, cherries (fruit) were used as the ball by kids often.

17.NK Domzale are a top-flight Slovenian club and while the league

was on a winter break in January, they lost their captain Nejc Skubic to Turkish side Konyaspor at the start of the transfer window.

The club's PR officer Grega Krmavnar said, “We have a small budget and we do not have the money to buy the biggest player. We needed a cheap way to replace our captain and so we decided to go down this road.”

"We needed a replacement and could not find one in Slovenia and had no other choice of players. This was just an idea from our head coach Luka Elsner, so we decided it would be a good way.”

Ultimately, they signed Spanish defender Alvaro Brachi, 30, just before transfer deadline day. Brachi's CV includes spells with Spanish sides Real Betis and Espanyol's second teams, Anorthosis in Cyprus and then Videoton in Hungary.

What novel way did the club use to sign the replacement?

19.“It must be difficult. I won’t even suggest that I understand or can relate to the

degree of frustration you’re probably feeling at this point. You’ve been an icon of intensity and strength for many of us. Your domination of the international squash scene is tremendous and I don’t think most of us even understand what it means. What you achieved in squash, is as great as Roger Federer’s achievements in tennis; it’s as brilliant as Usain Bolt’s accolades.

You were the world number one female squash players for 108 months. In 2001, you became the first player to have won the World Junior title on two occasions (1999 and 2001). You’ve won the Asian Squash Championships for a record of nine times and you’ve also clinched the World Open title for eight times now. Better still, you’ve won a total of 79 international titles throughout your career thus far. And that’s not too far away from Roger Federer’s 88 titles – bear in mind that he’s considered by many to be the greatest player to have ever graced tennis.

None of your achievements reflect anything ordinary. But you were just an ordinary girl from Penang, when you first started out. What changed in between? Nothing but sheer hard work. Every single accolade you’ve claimed is a culmination of the effort you’ve invested in improving yourself. All those world titles remain a symbolic sign of where consistency and focus ultimately brought you.”

20.Created by a West German horticulturist named Werner Fisher, they featured

a highly movable string surface, could impart massive amounts of spin that were completely unheard of at the time.

It caused the greatest stir in 1977, as it started to influence the outcomes of both club and professional tournaments. That year, at the French Open, Australian player Barry Phillips-Moore became the first to swing the stick at a major pro tournament. And a few months later, at the U.S. Open, little-known American Mike Fishbach, having notably rigged his own with Venetian-blind cord, upset Stan Smith in the second round.

But it wouldn’t reach the height of their notoriety until later that fall. Ilie Nastase was beaten by a player using a ‘________’ racket in Paris and swore he would never play against it again. The following week he turned up with one and used it to win a tournament at Aix-en-Provence, ending Guillermo Vilas’ long winning streak of 46 straight matches in the final. Vilas quit after two sets, claiming that playing against the exaggerated spin injured his elbow.”

21.Major League Baseball retired the number 42 throughout the league in

1997 in honour of Jackie Robinson, but players wearing it at the time could continue to use it.

So, when X, a one-club man, retired in 2013, his team also retired the number 42 in his honour.

X primarily threw a sharp-moving, mid-90s mile-per-hour cut fastball that frequently broke hitters' bats and earned a reputation as one of the league's toughest pitches to hit. With his presence at the end of games, signaled by his foreboding entrance song "Enter Sandman", he was a key contributor to his side‘s success in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

An accomplished postseason performer, he was named the 1999 World Series Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the 2003 AL Championship Series MVP, and he holds several postseason records, including lowest ERA (0.70) and most saves (42).

22.The blog was controversial from the start, giving unflattering nicknames to

players, coaches, and owners of KKR and other teams, telling sordid stories, and showing most of them in a very negative light. As it rapidly became popular, it was believed to be of a fringe KKR player who was upset at not being part of the core team.

The blog worsened an already bad season for KKR, which lost most of their games, had controversies surrounding their coach, John Buchanan, and frequently changed captains, including Sourav Ganguly.

The 2009 IPL season took place in South Africa, and two KKR players, Aakash Chopra and Sanjay Bangar, were sent home to India midway through the tournament. This fuelled speculation that they were suspected of being the person behind the blog. The team was also rumoured to have banned use of laptops by players. The management of the team termed the blog as "poison pen writing of the dirtiest variety", while denying it could have been written by an actual player.

In August 2010, Bangalore based marketing specialist Anupam Mukerji revealed himself on Television and newspapers as the person writing the blog. He said he had "never met a cricketer in his life", and was just making up stories. He never expected it to become this big, he remarked, adding that the blog ended up getting legitimised by the media frenzy.

31.Xs are normally available in three forms, their use

depending on the player’s choice; the standard one is a simple cross, the 'spider' has a raised arch around 12 cm with three grooves and for the most awkward of shots, the 'giraffe‘ or 'swan‘ which has a raised arch much like the 'spider' but with a slender arm reaching out around 15 cm with the groove.

Many amateurs refuse to use an X based on the perception that to do so is unmanly. However, many aficionados and most professionals employ the X whenever the situation so requires.

In 2003, it became a real sport, directly inspired by how it appeared in Froid Équateur. It was invented by Dutch performance artist, Iepe Rubingh and what was initially only thought to be an art performance quickly turned into a fully developed competitive sport.

Contested in four categories, the current champions are from the USA, Germany, Belarus and Russia. Leonid Chernobaev, the Belarusian, lifted the title after defeating Shailesh Tripathi of India in the final.

34.The second fight between X and Y is one of the most iconic ones in

the history of boxing. It came to embody the broader political and social conflict of the

times. As the most significant African American athlete of his age, X was a focal point for African American pride in the 1930s. Moreover, as a contest between representatives of the United States and Nazi Germany (Y was a German) during the 1930s, the fights came to symbolize the struggle between democracy and fascism.

70,000 people watched in the Yankee Stadium as X delivered a swift first-round knockout and became a symbol of pride for African Americans in the country.

Maya Angelou wrote about the scenes after X’s win, “Champion of the world. A Black boy. Some Black mother's son. He was the strongest man in the world. People drank Coca-Cola like ambrosia and ate candy bars like Christmas.”
