If the Lenten readings are a sort of “Greatest Hits of the Bible,” we skip track 2: “Noah and the Ark” and listen this weekend to track 3: “Abram”. The story of Abram (who will be renamed Abraham two chapters later). God calls Abram from the land of what is now Iraq, to Egypt, then promises the land of Canaan (aka “The Promised Land”). We will see this journey repeat in the story of Joseph and his brothers, Moses and the Exodus, and even of Jesus! Abram at this moment of course doesn’t know any of this and in his old age begins to doubt that God’s plan is going to come to fruition. God invites Abram to look at the sky and count the number of the stars, “so shall your descendants be”. Oftentimes, this is episode is depicted (as on the cover of this bulletin) with Abram looking at the stars at night. However, if you read the story carefully you realize that God asks Abram to count the stars in the middle of day! This important detail reminds us that we may not immediately see the fruit of our faithfulness. As Abram’s faith journey took many twists and turns so too does our journey of faith. How is God inviting you to trust even when you don’t “see the stars”? Si las lecturas de Cuaresma son una especie de "los Grandes éxitos de la Biblia", saltamos la pista 2: “Noé y el arca" y escuchamos este fin de semana la pista 3: “Abram". STO 2019-2020 STO financial aid application for 2019-2020 is now open. The FACTS application needs to be completed no later than April 15, 2019. The application is available online at online.factsmgt.com/aid in both English and Spanish. In addition to your completed application, you must include a copy of current wage and tax information. Tax and wage documents can be scanned, faxed, or sent via U.S. mail postmarked by April 15th. We urge you to complete the materials early to allow time for notification of any missing/incomplete materials. To assist you in completing the application, the FACTS call center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am-9:00 pm at 1-866-441-4637. The FACTS online application also has a chat feature to assist parents available Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm. You will use your 2018 tax forms this year.

RUMMAGE SALE The St. Mary CCW spring rummage sale will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30. FRAUDULENT EMAILS The archdiocese has received reports of fraudulent emails that appear to be coming from pastors. These emails are part of an international scheme that has emerged over the past few years. Scammers are trying to trick parishioners into believing that their pastor is requesting money or gift cards for various parish needs through a series of email messages. Official archdiocesan priest email addresses end in @dbqarch.org. These emails come from different addresses, often disguised to look like personal Gmail or Yahoo accounts. The body of these messages are generic and include phrases like "Are you in the office now?" and "How are you? Please contact me." Neither Frs. Don or Alan nor any of the staff would ask for money or gift cards by email, so please ignore such an email if you receive one.

edificar una “tienda” para Jesús y quedarse en la montaña donde se realize su transfiguración. Pero el Hijo de Dios, el Elegido, sabía que tenia que seguir acercándose a su
crucifixión. Nosotros también debemos ir más allá de nuestras
devociones y hacer lo que podamos para que llegue el Reino de Dios.
OUR STEWARDSHIP
Peter, James, and John wanted to build a “booth” for Jesus and just stay on the
mountain where His transfiguration took place. But the Son of God, the Chosen One, knew that He must instead keep
moving toward His crucifixion. We, too, must rise from worship and do what we
can to hasten the coming of the kingdom.
