COMPUTERISED MORSE CODE GENERATOR

The circuit given here can &e used to send telegraphic messages via computer. The message data entered through thecomputer "e$&oard is converted to corresponding Morse code and transmitted via the circuit attached to an$ (!M

compati&le computer/s printer port.

Morse code pulses from the computer appearing at pin 0 of the 12'pin parallel port are routed to the &ase of transistor

nT34CL3556 which in turn switches on the audio fre7uenc$ oscillator &uilt around (C3 4)E2226 for the duration of each

pulse. The fre7uenc$ of the oscillator can &e varied &$ ad8usting potmeters V+3 415 "ilo'ohm6 and V+1 425 "ilo'ohm6.

The audio output from pin 0 of (C 4)E2226 is connected to an FM transmitter comprising transistor T1 4!F39:!6 and the

associated components. The fre7uenc$ of the transmitter can &e changed with the help of trimmer capacitor VC3 or &$

changing the num&er of turns of coil L3.

The FM modulated signal is coupled to a short'wire antenna via capacitor C;. The signal can &em received using an$

read$made FM receiver tuned to the fre7uenc$ of the transmitter.

As stated earlier< this circuit is connected to the parallel port of the PC. -nl$ pins 0 and 12 of the =D/ connector are used.

Pin 0 corresponding to data &it D3 of port 0;>4he?6 carries the Morse Code data from the computer to the circuit while

pin 12 serves as common ground.

The circuit should &e powered &$ @2 volts regulated power suppl$. (t should &e fi?ed inside a metal &o? to reduce

interference.

The program< written in T,+!- PASCAL ;.5< accepts the message via the "e$&oard< converts it to corresponding Morse

code and sends the code to pin 0 of the printer port. The Morse code of various characters appears under the function

program is interactive and permits variation of speed. The program can &e modified to read and transmit the te?t files or

one can even ma"e a TS+ 4terminate and'sta$'resident6 program.

(t is hoped that this circuit idea would prove to &e of great value to the government/s telecom department< defence

services< coast guard< merchant nav$ and amateur radio operators as well as all those who ma"e use of Morse code for

message transmission.
