Training and Requirements• In order to become a computer programmer you require at

least an associate’s degree but with a bachelor’s degree you have more options available.

• Taking math and computer science courses help you as a programmer.

What it means to be a Programmer• Being a Computer Programmer means having to think differently.

Using Occam's razor to your advantage and being able to decipher and write code.

• The ability to handle more than one project at a time and to meet deadlines down to last minuet and working everyday even weekends.

Personal Traits• To be a programmer you have to have a different approach to

problems. • You also need to be able to notice detail. This is important

because you would have to analyze code line by line and find faults.

• You also have to be able to handle both stress and pressure because it can be challenging at times. You cannot get frustrated and have to keep calm.

Outlook• It is expected that there will be fewer programming jobs due to

companies outsourcing.• Programmers are also expected to know many more languages

and tools because of the advancements being made in technology.

Job Availability• Programming is one of the few jobs out there that you can

work from home and still make the same amount of money as you would from an office job.

• The best place to work in is New York City or other major metropolitan areas.. This is simply due to the fact that NYC is a major city and has major opportunities.
