Overview: It was the late Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel who conceived the idea of constructing a dam over the river Narmada in 1946-47 for the optimum use of Narmada waters for the welfare of the Nation.

Today The Sardar Sarovar Project is one of the largest water resources project of India covering four major states - Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Dam's spillway discharging capacity 85000 cumec (30.0 lakhs cusecs) would be third highest in the world. With 1133 cumecs (40000 cusecs) capacity at the head regulator, and 532 km. length, the Narmada Main Canal would be the largest irrigation canal in the world.

The project will generate between 856 to 1007 million units per year of cheap and Eco-friendly, indigenous hydropower. Project would meet the drinking water needs of 9490 villages, 173 urban centers and benefits three sanctuaries.

The Canal Solar Power Project is a project launched in Gujarat, to use 19,000 Kilometer long network of Narmada canals across the state for setting up solar panels to generate electricity. It was the first ever such project in India. A one Megawatt (MW) pilot project was inaugurated on 24 April 2012. The project is situated on the Narmada branch canal near Chandrasan village of Kadi taluka in Mehsana district.

The pilot project will generate 1.6 million units of clean energy per annum and also prevent evaporation of 9 million liters of water annually from the canal. The project virtually eliminates the requirement to acquire vast tracts of land and limits evaporation of water from the 750 meter long canal, tackling two challenges simultaneously by providing energy and water security.

Challenges:

MEIL wanted to translate the real time dynamic statistic data generated from the Canal Solar Power Project into visual indication for the public. This real time visual indication will provide the actual facts of the implemented project.

Solution:

Compucare with its expertise was able to rise up to the challenge of MEIL by providing customized solution with LED Message Display Board. The LED Message Display Board is part dynamic and displays the values such as Date, Current Radiation GHI, Current Generation, Today's Power Exported, and two Emission Reduction parameters. The LED Message Display Board are single sided with bright RED 7 Segment LED display, the display boards are clearly visible from an optimum distance of 10 meters and is designed to the external weather condition.

How LED Message Board Solution for Real Time Dynamic Statistics is achieved?

The live data is populated in the SCADA server.

The SCADA Server interfaces with the LED Software using a customized Web API interface.

The LED Software Server imports data from the populated SCADA Server through the custom Web API.

The imported live data by the LED Software is then displayed on to the LED Message Display Board.

The import and export of data between the SCADA Server and the LED Software through the custom Web API is done automatically in regular intervals.

The live statistics data is updated by the LED Software.
