1. Generator Sets – Cat generator sets are available in diesel and gas and can deliver consistent and reliable performance, in any condition. NMC Power Systems offers Caterpillar diesel generator sets (12kW to 17,460kW) that lead the industry in durability, reliability, and efficiency. Cat gas generator engines offer high reliability, durability and flexibility to burn fuels from the low energy landfill gas and bio-gas to pipeline natural gas and field gases.

2. Switchgear – Cat switchgear provides paralleling capability for multiple generator sets, with single or multiple points of utility connection for simple or complex applications. With units available from 208V to 36kV, Cat switchgear also offers monitoring and control of your complete solutions, including Cat ATS and Cat UPS.

3. Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) – Caterpillar offers a broad range of ATS products, with digital microprocessor controls, to suit any application – from a single ATS installation to a complex multi-ATS/generator switchgear system. Both open and closed transition designs are available with optional bypass/isolation and delay features in sizes from 40 to 5,000 amps.

4. UPS – NMC Power Systems can supply you the reliable backup power you depend on with a Flywheel UPS or Double Conversion UPS. The Cat system provides precision voltage regulation, fault toleration output and a user-friendly interface.

With up to 97% total system efficiency, minimal upkeep and the lowest operating cost in the industry, the Cat UPS systems efficiently and reliably protects critical loads from a variety of power problems.

It provides total power conditioning and supports critical loads during the transition period from utility power to stand by power, with multiple unit parallel capability available.

UPS Equipment can be used as a stand-alone product or in conjunction with generator sets to provide short or long-term power supply until the backup generator is able to come online; protecting you from total power failure.

NMC Power Systems offers two types of Cat UPS Systems to best suit your needs: Double Conversion (Battery) UPS and Flywheel UPS.

Battery UPS is new to the Cat product line, but it is a growing market that can provide continuous power generation that can manage most power quality issues. It operates with 94% total system efficiency, and lower operating and installation costs.

Ups double Conversion - Battery Configuration

The Cat Double Conversion Battery UPS is developed to be a leading source of power in the event of a load loss. With battery technology on the forefront, knowing about UPS batteries and how they operate will help you extend the life of your batteries and prevent the risk of unexpected load loss from a failing UPS battery.

Cat high-rate UPS batteries provide the instantaneous power today’s UPS needs to sustain critical emergency power systems. For added strength and durability, these batteries are housed in a reinforced flame-retardant polypropylene case and cover for long life performance.

vrlA vs wet Cell

Cat UPS equipment can accommodate two kinds of batteries used in UPSs:

» Valve regulated lead- acid (VrLA) batteries, also known as sealed or maintenance-free» Wet-cell (also called flooded-cell).

With lower up-front costs, VrLA batteries have a shorter lifetime - around five years. Wet-cell batteries can last up to 20 years, but require more advanced maintenance.

Ups Battery CabinetsSelecting the right cabinet is important to ensure batteries run efficiently and in conjunction with your Double Conversion UPS equipment. NMC Power Systems offers eight UPS Battery cabinets to best suit your applications needs.

» Adjacent and remote Mount Cabinets provide a matching battery cabinet loaded with VrLA batteries for installation adjacent to the UPS cabinet

» Adjacent cabinets are provided without side panels (or skins) because they are intended to be bolted to the UPS on site

– Connection cables to the UPS are provided for adjacent cabinets – Each battery cabinet comes with a battery disconnect breaker sized for the batteries used

Batteries do deteriorate. Unfortunately, the UPS will not tell us when a battery failure will occur. At most, the system can perform a periodic test that could indicate some sort of battery failure, but it does not specifically identify which battery or batteries are defective nor does it provide information on the health of the other batteries in the string.
