The Standards provide the bases for evaluating the course.

This is a rigorous set of standards that is consistently applied to online courses for continuous improvement.

There are 8 General and 43 Specific Review Standards used in the Quality Matters Rubric.

Annotations provide an explanation of the standard, for instance, This standard requires Aligning the course with module objectives. The tools can be

software, discussion boards, chat rooms etc.

Example, students will use the LMS platform to interact with their peers on The Benefits and effect of The Affordable Care Act on Low Income Americans.

Students should use Moodle, online resources, government documents, electronic periodicals and documentaries to support their positions.

Providing relevant and useful feedback to learners. Criticism of the learner’s work, with requirements needed to meet objectives. This element also requires the reviewer to provide resources, example, video-tapes, textbooks, blogs, electronic devices that can be useful in aligning the course and module level objectives to enable the learner to meet expectations.

Course information provides details of where course content can be found. Objectives are clearly defined and the learner understands what is expected.

Example, the learner should read Chapter 1 in the text, answer the questions marked highlights of the Chapter, complete a short essay on how Technology has effected the learner’s performance in online courses, interact with at least a peer, who reviews your essay with feedback.

Assessment of online activities and work. The course level and module level objectives and competencies are aligned to the work completed in the course. This work is assessed to determine if students were successful in meeting expectations. In quality matters, the threshold is 85%.
