Extended Wear Elbows

CERAMIC-BACKED ELBOWS

CERAMIC-LINED ELBOWS

The “CERAM-BACK-ELBOW”TM has a jacket across the back of the core elbow which is approximately 1/2" of ceramic compound. This compound has a Mohs hardness of 9+, second only to diamond which has a Mohs hardness of 10. The ceramic jacket and core elbow is then wrapped with an exterior material to maintain the hoop strength. Once the ceramic compound has been applied, it receives a finished coat of paint.

Ceramic-lined bends have a uniform coating of a specially formulated ceramic material that is added to the inside diameter of the bend to give it a very hard, slippery, glass-like surface. The hardness of the ceramic coating is between 5 and 6 on the Mohs Scale – as hard as glass and just as smooth. The exterior of the bend has the appearance of annealed steel and can be easily painted.

GLASS ELBOWS All glass elbows are manufactured from heavy wall borosilicate glass tubing, offering superior abrasion resistance and process visibility. The glass elbows come with built-in grounding to eliminate troublesome static charge.

Available in sizes to fit most new or existing applications, ranging from 1” OD - 7” OD in standard wall thickness. Each order is made to custom specifications to ensure maximum compatibility and satisfaction.

Fines Reduction

ANGEL HAIR REMOVER BOXES Trap material fines before they clog your entire conveying system!

"Angel hair," "streamers" or "skins," created by high-velocity conveying of soft material, can clog your conveying system by blocking distribution box tubes or creating material bridges in hoppers. EAGLE's Angel Hair Remover provides a tubu-lar trap screen in the material flow path to filter out the clogging fines material and allow it to be easily removed from the system. Usually fitted at the base of a silo or storage bin, the Angel Hair Remover should be installed below an EAGLE Slide Gate (see below) and above your main Vacuum Take-off Box. The unit fits the same 16" square bolt pattern as EAGLE's entire line of material distribution components.

Fines Reduction

Angel Hair Is A Devilish Problem Look inside the smooth tubing used by some processors to pneumatically convey plastic pel-lets. You’ll probably see it clogged with a special kind of clutter: angel hair.

Angel hair naturally forms when the pellets abrade against the inside of this smooth tubing. Adhering to the inside of the bends, it clogs system terminals and filters, leads to product loss and causes production downtime. In general, angel hair can cause one devil of a problem.

Heli-GrooveTM Prevents Angel-Hair Residue From Collecting Some plastic pellets cannot be conveyed by conventional smooth tubing. The angel-hair prob-lem requires special treatment. Heli-Groove is specifically designed as a highly effective solu-tion.

Very simply, Heli-Groove prevents angel-hair residue from collecting.

Available for Straights and Bends.

STANDARD TUBING

Shot peening is a cold working non-directional process in which the surface of a part is bombarded with small spherical media called shot. Each piece of shot striking the material acts as a tiny peening hammer, im-parting to the surface a small indentation or dimple. The resulting dimple may serve to disrupt the boundary layer of the flow creating turbulence and the tendency of particles to tumble along the wall of the pipe or tub-ing.


“Flo-Line" internal finish is a directional roughness applied by a proprietary shot peening process. The finish is consistent and covers 100% of the internal surface of the pipe. The impact of the round shot compresses and flows the surface to produce a form of cratered roughness. The resulting dimple serves to disrupt the boundary layer of the flow creating turbulence and the tendency of particles to tumble rather than slide along the wall of the pipe or tubing.

Compression Couplers Compression couplers are de-signed for permanent installation in the joining of tube or pipe with either plain end, threaded, grooved, or a combination of any of these joints. Couplers are made of heavy gauge zinc-plated steel. Aluminum or stainless steel couplers quoted on request.

Gaskets furnished standard in black neoprene. Red rubber or white neoprene are available on request. Stainless steel ground-ing strips are provided standard on all couplers. Stainless steel gasket protectors are available at a slight extra charge.

When ordering please specify tube outer diameter, pipe size or outer diameter, number of bolts, and gasket type. Some common sizes are shown in the table at right. Other sizes are available.

Flexible PVC Hose

Eagle Components can provide hose to meet virtually any material conveying system requirements. Our two most popular types are described below, but many others are available. Eagle also offers a line of venting & ducting hose, one of which is described here, as well as Spiral Double Bolt Clamps, pictured at left.

• Style A - CLEAR PVC MATERIAL HANDLING HOSE Our most economical PVC material transfer hose. Made of clear, reinforced PVC with a smooth bore. Ideal for conveying pellets, powders, granules, & most food grade materials. Operating temperature range: 10 deg – 150 deg F. Size range: 1-1/2” - 6”.

• Style B - CLEAR PVC HOSE WITH GROUND WIRE Same durable, light weight hose described above, with the addition of an integral copper wire to assure a posi-tive ground where static build-up is a concern. Size range: 1-1/2” - 6”.

• Style H - SILICONE HIGH TEMP HOSE Double-ply, silicone-coated, woven fiberglass reinforced with wound steel wire. Ideal for venting dryers, tanks, or enclosures. Temperature range: -80 deg to 600 deg F. Size range: 1” - 12”.

Specifically designed for use with corrugated PVC material handling hose. Available in galvanized and stainless, in sizes 1-1/2” to 10”.

Flexible Metal Hose Eagle Components offers flexible in-terlocked metal hose in a variety of sizes and configurations. Custom-fabricated metal hose assemblies are also available.

Sizes range from 1-1/2” to 16” ID in both unlined rough bore and lined smooth bore. Construction materials are either stainless or galvanized steel. Hose may be ordered packed or unpacked. Packing selections include cotton cord, gas tight, silicone, and SS wire. Assemblies may be ordered with a variety of end fittings, in-cluding flanges, tubes, pipe nipples, and cam & groove couplers, either welded or epoxied in place.

Slide Gates



For adjustable material flow from silo, bin, or hopper, Eagle offers a Manual Slide Gate that attaches quickly and easily to any of these flanged vessels. Gate housings are con-structed of mild steel with a durable enamel finish. Slides are zinc plated steel riding on UHMW runners. The drawing at right depicts the 12” opening model, but other sizes are avail-able. Contact your Eagle sales representative for more infor-mation.

For larger storage bins and silos, choose Eagle’s Gear Driven Slide Gate with Hand Wheel, shown at left. Constructed of weather resistant aluminum, this gate bolts easily to standard 16-1/4” square flanged dis-charges.

Also available from Eagle, the Air Operated Slide Gate is ideal for remote opening and closing of bin or hopper discharges. Features include air cylinder op-eration, steel construction, and multiple sizes.

Modular Vacuum Takeaway Boxes

To convey material from silo, bin, or hopper, consider Eagle’s line of Modular Vacuum Takeaway Boxes. Designed to attach to a standard 16-1/4” discharge flange, these boxes feature all aluminum construction for durability and weather resistance. Pictured above is the single probe model; models to accommodate two and four probes are also available. Note that the dual flanged “stackable” design allows the addition of extra boxes to meet future needs. Stainless steel models are also available by special order. Horizontal Air Probes



For adjustable material discharge from vacuum takeaway boxes, Eagle offers a line of Hori-zontal Air Probes. Features include resilient aluminum construction and an air flow control collar with screened ports to protect against material loss and contamination. Standard sizes range from 1-1/2” to 4”, but others are available by special order.

Unload material from drums or boxes easily and quickly with Eagle’s Vertical Air Probes. Shown here is the basic aluminum model with six air register holes and stand off loop. Deluxe models with features such as an adjustable air register ring and attached cam and groove coupling are also offered.

Standard sizes are 1-1/2 to 4”.

Where material flow is a problem, Eagle can help with it’s complete line of Industrial Vibrators, both electric and pneumatic. Attached to tilt table, bin, hopper, or silo, these devices can facilitate material flow to discharge outlet or air probe. They are available in a wide range of sizes and capacities, capable of solving most material flow problems. For assistance in choosing the right vi-brator for your application, contact your Eagle sales rep-resentative.

Material Level Indicators Prevent costly equipment downtime and material spills with an Eagle material indicator sys-tem. Both point level and continuous level monitoring systems are available. Contact an Eagle sales representative for assistance in choosing the correct system to meet your inventory management needs.

For reliable, economical, point level sensing, install an Eagle Paddle Style material level indicator. Simple electro-mechanical operation and rugged cast aluminum housing are just two of the features that make these units a popular choice with material handling professionals. Explosion proof and fail-safe models are available. Additional options include various paddle designs and mounting plate configurations, as well as shaft extensions and shaft guards.

To monitor material levels in bins, hoppers and silos from a remote location, connect your Ea-gle paddle style indicators to an Eagle Material Level Indicator Panel. A signal from the ro-tary level sensor indicating either high or low material levels will activate a corresponding light on the panel. Standard units will monitor two or four bins, but custom panels can be designed to meet individual customer needs. Audible alarms can be added at customer request.

For accurate continuous material level sensing, order an Eagle Plumb Bob Style material level indicator. Mounted atop a storage container, this unit works by lowering a weight to the material surface. The resulting measurement data is sent to a programmable controller/processor which performs the necessary calculations and makes the data available for viewing. Controller/processors can be ordered with capacities sufficient to monitor 16 vessels. Various mounting and plumb bob options are avail-able.

In situations where contact level measurement is impractical or un-reliable, consider Eagle’s Ultrasonic Style continuous level meas-urement system. This system consists of a non-contact Sensor/Transmitter and, if required, a Controller. The Sensor/Transmitter emits an ultrasonic pulse which is reflected off the material surface. This data is then sent to the customer’s PLC or similar device, or to the Controller where it is analyzed using software specifically de-signed for this purpose.

Sight Glasses Installed in the material conveying line using compression couplers, Sight Glasses provide a means of visually moni-toring material flow. Standard material is clear acrylic; Pyrex is available. An attached grounding strip eliminates static electricity build-up. Ends are offered in either aluminum or steel in sizes ranging from 1-1/2” to 6” OD.

Magnets Protect processing equipment and improve product quality with metal separation magnets from Eagle. Properly installed at key points in the materials processing system, these magnets remove ferrous tramp metals. Two types are described here, drawer-in-housing and grate magnets, but others are available. Please call Eagle for details.

Eagle Drawer-in-Housing magnets, pic-tured at right, are tailored to meet a wide variety of industrial tramp metal applica-tions. Each housing contains pull out magnet drawers with magnet tubes on alternate centers to force a zig-zag mate-rial movement. The pull out drawers offer fast, efficient cleaning of the captured metal.

Grate magnets, at left, deliver ferrous metal separation in bins, hoppers, and circular enclosures. They are available in round, square, and rectangular configurations with round tubes, and in square and rectangular configurations with square tubes. There are three choices of magnet tube materials for both drawer and grate magnets: Ceramic for standard applications, Alnico for high heat situations, and Rare Earth Neodymium for “fine parti-cle” separation.

Fill and Vent Kits



For filling and venting silos and other large storage containers, look to Eagle Components fill and vent kits. Described here are Eagle’s standard 4” fill kit, as well as two varieties of vent kits. However, custom configurations can be designed for specific applications. Please contact an Eagle sales representative for more infor-mation.

Eagle’s Fill Kit is a complete package that can be customized to fit any silo or stor-age container. This kit includes: mounting stub with flange, compression couplers, elbows, mounting brackets, tubing, quick disconnect & cap. Available in various diameter lines, Aluminum or Stainless Steel Construction.

In situations where particularly abrasive material is a problem, Eagle can provide tubing and bends of stainless steel, or, if necessary, bends with ceramic lining. Contact your Eagle sales representative for details.

For an economical solution to venting your silo, choose Eagle’s 6” PVC Vent Kit. Like our fill kits, it is a complete package that can be customized to fit particular containers. Included are mounting stub with flange, PVC elbows, PVC tubing, & bird screen.

Also available (not pictured) is our Mushroom Vent kit. Designed for corrugated silos. Package includes mounting stub with flange, associated hardware and vent filter.

Where a more protected venting system is called for, look to Eagle’s 8” Aluminum Vent Kit (not pictured). Designed specifically for skirted silos, this system routes the vent tube to the enclosed area beneath your silo where it connects to a vent box with removable, aluminum mesh filters. The package includes mounting stub with flange, mitered bends, tubing, mounting brackets, compression couplers, & vent box with filter.

Rail Car Unloading Kits

If your material arrives by rail, consider the Eagle Components Rail Car Unloading Kit. As shown above, this kit consists of a hatch filter, an inlet filter, and the unloading nozzle. All items are available individually. Please contact your Eagle sales representative for pricing and information.

♦ The Inlet Filter is located opposite the unloading nozzle. It also provides filtered air during the unloading process, and has a replaceable aluminum mesh filter element.

♦ The Rail Car Unloader Nozzle mounts on the rail car discharge tube. The assembly features all aluminum construction with adjustable air flow control, and includes a camlock fitting for hose connection. Standard is a 4” aluminum camlock, but other custom adapters are available. When ordering, please specify male or female 4” camlock, or size and type of custom adapter needed.

Eagle offers two basic types: the Quick Change manifold, two ex-amples of which are shown below and at left, and the In-Line manifold, shown in the drawing at the bottom of the page.

Gaylord Covers

Gaylord Filter Covers improve the quality of molded parts by preventing contamination of in process material. They provide easy access and the ability to make quick visual level checks. Filter Covers reduce mess and housekeeping labor as-sociated with transferring of material from central loaders and grinders. Our negative pressure filter covers fit 34" x 42" Gaylords. The cover features two access ports sized to accept a 2" to 2.5" diameter vacuum wand. The ports are

located in opposite corners of the cover so that operators can reposition the vacuum wand as material shifts in the gaylord. The ports include an elastic band for a tight seal and a zipper to close one or both openings when not in use. An elastic band around the skirt holds the cover in place. The single port (positive Pressure) cover has a center port and a belt with a buckle to more securely hold the cover in place around the skirt. The port size is specified by the customer within a range of 2" to 20" diameter. This cover is designed to reduce the mess associated with pneumatic loading of material into gaylords. Specify diameter of port when order-ing.
