To disassemble the head and foot section, pull the black lock knob out and rotate the knob a quarter turn. Thelockknobwillremainopentoallowtheheadsectiontoberemovedfromthefootsection.

TheCompetitorbedcomeswithahandcontrolthatwillilluminatewhenthebedispluggedintoagroundedorpolarizedwalloutlet,orwith9Vbattery(notincluded)installedinthehandcontrol.Thehandcontrolwillilluminateaslongasthewallorbatteryhaspower.Withthisbatteryinstalled,themotorcanbeoperatedtoreturnthe sleep surface to the horizontal position in the event of apowerfailure.

Usethisbedonlyforitsintendeduseasdescribedintheseinstructions.DO NOT use attachments not recommendedbythemanufacturer.
Afterraising/loweringthehead/footendofthebed,checkthedistancebetweenthebottomofthebedrailandthemattress.Ifthereisexcessivedistancebetweenthebottomofthebedrailandthemattressinwhichindividualsmaybecomeentangled,adjusttheheightofthebedrail(ifapplicable),orprovidealter-native means of patient protection.
