OVERALL SIZE

Air-Powered Abrasive Belt ToolsCOMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

➤ It’s easy to see the size difference between 3M’s tool and our standardDynafile® II, model number 40320. This larger size of the 3M tool may proveto be cumbersome for many applications.

➤ You will notice the difference in reach with these two tools. In the photo, both tools are set up to run an 18" length belt. We have the tools positionedso the leading edge of the belt housings are lined up. Everything being equalwe have over 1/2" (12 mm) of additional reach over the 3M tool. This willprove helpful with applications in confined spaces.

ACCESSIBILITY

DURABILITY

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

➤ This photo really highlights how bulky the 3M tool is. Notice how wide of anopening there is on the belt housing. This will restrict the type of applicationswhere this tool can be used. Their opening is nearly 2.9 inches (75 mm) widecompared to only 1.9 inches (48 mm) wide for our Dynafile® II, and 1.7 inches(43 mm) wide for our Auto File II.

➤ Tool height will also be a disadvantage for 3M. It is easy to see from the abovephotograph that access to restricted areas will be difficult for 3M to achieve. Our Dynafile® II and Auto File II both have lower profiles than the 3M tool.

➤ Notice in the above photo the motor housings between the three tools. OurDynafile® II and Auto File II are cast aluminum while the 3M tool is a plasticclamshell. It does not appear the 3M belt tool is a durable choice for industrialsettings. They may experience some premature breakage.

SAFETY

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

This safety lock lever engages very easily. It may not preventaccidental startups when dragged across the bench.

ADJUSTABILITY

These alligator teeth represent the mechanism to turn the belt housing. These will wear down. Our Cam Lock system will have a longer life.Additionally, there are two setscrews to be manipulated when adjustingthe belt housing. Our Cam Lock utilizes one setscrew.
