3/31/2017 Compassion Serving Opportunities for Life Groups Hands of Mercy (new opportunity): Through Hands of Mercy, teams will be formed to help a Caregiver or Widow with various basic home repairs such as painting, outdoor projects, changing air filters, hanging pictures/curtains, etc. The teams of four or more men and women will be organized with a Team Captain to serve three to four hours, one Saturday per month. No special skills or abilities are required. This is an excellent opportunity for Growth Groups or Life Groups to sign up to serve together. Eyeglass Ministry: Wednesday help needed: 3 - 4 people needed weekly on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm to sort and inventory glasses. Training will be provided. To assist in this ministry, please contact Kevin Cornelius, [email protected]. LP Food Pantry: 2-3 people on first Tuesday of each month to help restock the pantry for the week (must be able to lift up to 30 pounds). To assist in this ministry, please contact Kathy Roberts, [email protected] Lake Pointe Community Center: Upside – we are in need of volunteers for our afterschool program at LRE, WEDNESDAYs from 2:45pm-5:30pm. Children range from K-6 th grade. Serving opportunities include tutoring, mentoring, homework assistance, giving the bible lesson and encouragement. To assist in this ministry, please contact Armando Rodriguez, [email protected] Senior Living Ministry: Serve with your LG, children or friends by hosting a game time, bible study, movie time or any type of engagement event with residents at Highland Meadows Health & Rehab in Rockwall. Many residents have no family or friends that visit them so simple social engagement is deeply desired. To assist in this ministry, please contact Kathy Cobb, [email protected] Genesis Center Kaufman: Help needed sorting donations for the thrift store. Serving can occur Monday – Saturday, 10am – 5pm. For more information, contact Kathy Cobb at [email protected] Prison Ministry: Mentor, teach classes or visit our LP Service. Classes and the Service take place at the Estes Unit in Venus, Texas. Mentorship occurs at Trinity Restoration, a prison aftercare facility in Dallas. Lake Pointe Church will receive credit towards our account for handling fees for each hour a volunteer works.
