ate Many people rely on bed and bath linens to

beautify many areas of the home. Bed linens create a feeling of luxury while people sleep on them, and some homemakers have chosen to make curtains from sheets that decorate the bed. People use bed linens to create a central focal point for the bedroom, and that beauty is exposed when the sheets are turned down each evening. Bedspreads create the finishing touch to bed linens and provide homemakers will the opportunity to share the creative side of her personality with friends.

With the fine milled texture afforded with better quality bed and bath linens, women are able to luxuriate in the tub and while drying off. The bath towel selections will allow a woman to wrap their body up like a cocoon while applying cosmetics in the dewy environment of a bathroom after bathing is through. Some women dry hair with towels by creating a turban and other women use these bath accessories to remove moisture from many body areas. Fine bed and bath linens can create a luxurious mood that is carried over when people pursue a deep sleep.

Some bed linens will assure homemakers of warmth even if the temperatures are dropping outside. Bed linens can be made from many fabrics, and during winter, most people will change the bed linens over to flannel because of the heat conduction properties that are weaved into each sheet. During the long winter months, women might place comforters on the bed filled with down feathers, while others survive a cold winter’s night by layering quilts on the bed.

The color choices for bed and bath linens is truly remarkable. Homemakers can employ some interior decorating projects on any day of the week simply by changing the colors of the towels

that hang on a separate rack near the tub and especially those that are used more often by the bathroom sink. Some women do not discover the exquisite textures of the bath linens that were purchased until the towel fibers have been washed several times in the washing machine. Only then will the fluffy layers be evident and felt by everyone that is exposed to them.

While shopping for bed and bath linens, a woman might want to explore the subtle differ-ences in the towels and sheets that are in the fine department stores. Some might question the usability of the product because the low prices do not reflect the prices attached to fine quality bed or bath linens. Some merchandisers offer low prices but never exchange quality for the low priced products to sell because mass buying al-lows them to sell bed and bath linens at reduced prices even though the quality of the bed and bath linens is high.

Women study thread counts on bed linens and look for signs of aging on towels before they buy. Any type of wrinkling in towels is consid-ered to be an imperfection in the weave and some women simply refuse to buy them. Those bed and bath linens that are first rate will give guarantees to homemakers that these bed and bath linens will hang straight when placed on a bed or when they are hung on a towel rack. The softness found in towels will give true evidence that the bath linens are good quality and should last for years with proper care.

Go ahead - breathe easier and enjoy the comfort of wood heat knowing you are also serving the environment by choosing a Pacic Energy ultra-burning wood stove or wood insert.

Heating your home with a Pacic Energy wood stove or insert means choosing a

GREEN home-heating solution.

Unlike the ‘dirty burners” of decades past, Pacic Energy’s unique rebox design and stainless steel encapsulated bafe system

burn over 96% cleaner than non-EPA stoves with older technology. Pacic Energy stoves burn carbon-neutral, and create virtually no

emmissions.

Wood heat is a responsible choice. Unlike fossil fuels, wood is a

renewable and sustainable fuel source which does not produce green-house

gases that contribute to global warming. Burning wood simply speeds up the natural decomposition process.

We’ve heard over and over again that first impressions are the most important. Well this certainly holds true when it comes to decorating. Spaces in your home (such as foyers) give your guests a sense of arrival. Unfortunately, this so often is such a neglected area. Follow her steps below and make yours a grand entrance.

Unless your front door opens directly onto your living area or another room you can and should make something of the entrance to your home. A well- presented foyer gives visitors their first impression, welcomes you home every time you’ve been out, and can even help to sell a property.

So make an impact. As this is one area that people pass through rather than spend time in, it’s the perfect place to give visitors a glimpse into your personality. Use the hall as somewhere to set the tone for the rest of your home. Display photographs, paintings, a favorite rug and anything else that represents you and your family.

The foyer also offers an opportunity for an accent of color, particularly as white or very light colors can often be stark and uninviting. Color can be introduced via wallpaper, fabric, rug or rich-colored console, a painting or plant.

Pay attention to detail. If possible, try to think of the foyer as a room in its own right. As such, treat it with the same care and attention to detail as you would any other room. If there’s space, put a chair or a small table there.

Also, think classic. Touches such as an umbrella stand or that 20th century hall accessory or beautiful bench accompanied by a wonderful mirror will help to give your entrance a sense of purpose. If your hallway has a window, and if space allows, make a feature of this by placing a chair or table underneath.

Other things to keep in mind when it comes to foyers:

• Never use your foyer as a dumping ground. This is the first thing you see when you open the door so keep the hall and stairs

tidy and free of clutter at all times.

• If this is where you keep coats and bags, invest in some ap-propriate storage. There are so many storage options for foyers now that you will definitely find something to suit your needs.

• If doors to other rooms lead off from the foyer, think carefully about the color scheme to ensure that the eye is easily drawn from one space to the next. Your rooms show flow.

• Whatever the size or shape of your foyer, your prime concern should be to make it as welcoming as possible. Stand in the doorway and imagine you’re walking in for the first time. Ask the questions … what needs to change? Is the color suitable and inviting? Is the lighting appropriate for the space? Or does it simply need to be de-cluttered?

Although foyers are substantially smaller than any other room in the home, so often they are one of the last areas on our list to update or keep tidy. Remember that this area is in fact a small space, but a very important one!

With coffee’s growing popularity, the demand for coffee beans has increased. Most of the coffee consumed worldwide is grown on large farms, otherwise known as plantations, where the land has been cleared for rows and rows of coffee plants. These plants, like other crops, are grown and ripened under the warmth of the sun. However, for those who prefer the bold flavor of espresso and other gourmet coffee drinks, the sun ripened beans are just not suitable. Shade grown espresso coffee beans which take longer to mature seem to be the answer to this problem.Coffees grown in different parts of the world have different flavors, and there are about 800 different components to coffee that has an effect on the taste of the finished product, plus sun ripened coffee beans or cherries tend to be bitterer than shade ripened cherries. Espresso shade grown coffee has a flavor that is both full and dark but smooth. Also, this type of coffee blends better with other ingredients, making it the perfect base for lattes and cappuccinos. Not only does shade grown coffee have a better flavor, but it is also a more ecologically sound choice. Since most of the land used for the large coffee growers is tropical forest, clearing these lands takes away a vital component in maintaining earth’s perfect atmospheric balance. The tropical forests take in carbon dioxide and produce the oxygen needed to sustain life on this planet. Many argue that by depleting this resource we are contributing to the rise of global warming.Since there is no need to clear the land when growing shade ripened coffee plants, they become part of the forest. They provide shelter for smaller animals, such as birds and other tiny creatures. Not to mention, since larger plantations do not find this type of coffee crop economically viable, shade grown plants are normally raised on smaller family owned farms. These farmers are able to sell their crops to companies through Fair Trade sources, thus obtaining proper pricing so that they are able to provide proper support for their families. This helps to boost the economy of an underdeveloped area.Another thing to consider is that shade ripened cherries are organically grown, which means that no chemicals were used during the farming process. This is important because fertilizers and pesticides like DDT, which is banned in the US, are still being used on most of the larger plantations located outside this country. Fertilizer and pesticides like DDT have been linked to cancer, birth defects and other health problems. So the next time you select coffee for your espresso, or even morning cup of regular Joe, try to remember to look for shade grown espresso coffee beans. You are guaranteed to get a better cup of coffee every time. Also, you are making a healthier choice, one without toxic chemicals that can have lasting effects for years to come.

A big part of home interior decorating is determining what to use on your walls. You can mount pictures, posters, paintings or mirrors to bring out the decorative balance in your room. Whatever you decide to put up on your walls should complement you home interior decorating style. Choose your pieces carefully and mount then thoughtfully. Each piece you hang up should be fully appreciated.

Determining LocationWhen determining the height at which to hang your decoration, choose a height where the pictures or paintings are at the eye level for easy viewing. If you hang pictures to high or too low the image is distorted and will not be appreciated. Take into consideration the pieces relation

to the furniture. A wall decoration can either make or break a piece of furniture. For example a huge mirror should not be hung over a small credenza.Enhancing your PicturesThe right frame can play an important role in bringing out your pictures. A picture frame can easily be modified by painting its molding. Keep your picture and mirror frames clean. Illuminate your pictures with picture lights, increasing the desired impact. You can also use spot lighting for the same effect. Take also into consideration the paint color of your walls when choosing your wall decorations. Choose a paint color or wall decorations that complement your home interior decorating style.

Using posters instead of PicturesPosters are affordable options for a wall decoration project. Purchase posters that match your home interior decorating style. Once you have decided on your posters, you need to first smooth the poster. Use a cool iron, this allows the corners to stop curling up. The poster can then be attached directly to the wall by using wall paper adhesive. To finish off your poster wall decoration consider painting over it with matte vanish. A poster can also be attached to a poster board or framed and mounted as your picture would.Using MirrorsMirrors in home interior decorating add a feeling of larger space. Choosing the right mirrors is crucial. Mirrors are an inexpensive way to give a room a new look. Mirrors dramatically change the appearance of a room. A mirror brightens a room by reflecting the limited light and also gives the illusion of increased size of the room. Mirrors can be hung over an ugly spot on the wall or can even be used as a table top. Hanging a mirror requires the same hardware used to hang pictures. If hanging a large mirror drill in the nails. Use nails or screws that can support the weight of the mirror. When tightening the screws, use a thin piece of cardboard to determine how tight the screw is.If you are seeking a new look for a room, change the location of your wall decorations. This will give your room a new look without having to spend money on new pictures or paint for the walls.

The office is where you get most of your work done. Having one is quite a privilege; not many could boast of having an office of their own. This why when the opportunity arises when one is given an office space, and the permission to choose ones own furniture at that, the reaction of most would of course be excitement. It is not everyday that you are given the chance to have your own personal space at work, and to decorate it as such. Thus, the first priority in decorating the office is to figure out what type office furniture would work best for you. There are some that would go for the standard office furniture that the company might already have at hand. This type of furniture usually has more to do with functionality and practicality rather than style or aesthetic appeal. While this would be the easiest route towards decorating, it is also the least that has to do with you. Your style and your tastes would never come out. There are also some that would go for the contemporary office furniture. This type of furniture is more ornamental than most.

A lot would consider this furniture as more stylish and more decorative than actually functional, but there are many who would cater to it because of the beauty and sometimes the other worldliness that it can bring to ones office. To say the least, it can certainly be

effective eye-candy for visitors or clients. The question is how could you combine the best advantage of both types of furniture (practicality and beauty)? The answer may be in modern office furniture.Your office lets you work at your own space. This is reason enough for you to want it to be as much of a personal reflection as it could be. You would want the furniture to be decoratively stylish yet practical for your everyday use. Modern office furniture can give you just that. This type of furniture veers from the overly ornamental and the overly stylish like the contemporary office furniture. But it is also not tasteless as what standard office furniture may provide.Modern office furniture brings a fresh ambience to your office, but also looks very professional. Compared with the contemporary type of furni-ture, this type of furniture is more laid-back and less formal. But the good thing about modern furniture is that it enables you to achieve a balance between practicality and aesthetic appeal. If you want your office to reflect your style without compromising the functionality and practicality inside it, then the modern type is for you.

To be able to choose the right modern office furniture for you, here are some tips.Style should reflect you.It is your office; the moment that visitors walk in your office, they should be able to associate what is inside it with the person occupying it. Thus, choose modern office furniture that will be able to reflect you and the nature of your work. There are a lot of this type of furniture to choose from in terms of designs and materials. Also make sure that what you choose would be those you feel most comfortable in, and those which would be of utmost use to you in terms of functionality.Budget should be considered.A reflection of your style should not be expensive. Thus, in choosing for your office furniture, make sure that every type of furniture you choose is according to your budget. There are many types of modern office furniture that is not expensive yet reflective of your style. If you want to create a balance between functionality and decorative appeal, the modern office furniture is the way to go.

Often in this space, I explore a small slice of digital signage development, such as the role of digital signage in meeting the evolving media appetites of people; the ability of digital signs to blend the functions of traditional signs with the interactive aspects of digital kiosks; or the potential of digital signage to command an increasingly larger slice of the media budget of marketers. While those are important topics, this month I want to get back to the basics of digital signage -specifically why should professional communicators turn to digital signage to convey their important messages? Actually, there are several reasons, including:-To increase a company’s visibility. One of the biggest problems retailers have when it comes to self-promotion is cutting through all of the marketing noise generated by every other business -be it on radio or TV, in newspapers and magazines or from competing store front signs. Digital signage can cut through those distractions by attracting and directing the attention of the most important potential buyers of all -those in a store who are ready to spend money on a purchase.

-To help solidify relationships with customers and vendors. Consider an auto dealership waiting room with customers seated waiting for their cars to be fixed. With well-positioned digital signage messaging -as opposed to an ordinary TV displaying a cable news channel- the dealership can promote special offers aimed at its captive digital signage audience as a reward for choosing to do business with the dealership. Or, in a corporate setting, a digital sign in the lobby can be used to welcome scheduled vendors, guests and other visitors as

they arrive -a simple move that builds goodwill.-To deliver critical information more efficiently. In times of emergency, an existing digital signage network can be a lifesaver, providing critically important messages alert-ing employees, customers and other patrons of exit locations, storm shelters

and other vital information.-To save time. Preparing a static, printed sign is labor-intensive, expensive and time-consuming. The same message can be created and displayed far more quickly with a digital sign. Add to that the recurring expense of printing new signs as needs change versus simply updating a digital sign with a few keystrokes and it doesn’t take long to begin earning a tidy ROI from a digital sign.-To attract greater attention than is possible with static, printed signs. The other drawback of print is that it is static. Human brains are programmed for motion. Our eyes are automatically drawn to moving objects. Digital signs displaying full of motion video are dynamic not static. They tap into something that is innately human to

demand attention and hold it.-To increase the efficiency of employees. Imagine a small industrial plant where management wants to communicate vital information to hundreds of workers. Perhaps it’s production quotas vs. actual performance; perhaps it’s mean time between accidental employee injuries; perhaps it’s delivery information regarding vital components that are en route. In all of these instances -and others too numerous to recount here- digital signage has the ability to convey important information to a workforce that is vital to employees maintaining a safe, efficient environment. There you have it -several reasons why digital signage is an important, effective communications alternative that professional communicators cannot ignore. Sometimes it’s good to get back to basics.

Digital Signage...1) Can increase your company’s visibility,2) Can help solidify your customer and vendor relationships,3) Can deliver critical information more efficiently,4) Saves time,5) Attracts attention better than static signs,6) Can increase the efficiency of your employees. And, digital signage can be less expensive than what you are already using.

What do you think?

Do you have a couple of rooms upstairs away from everyone that is being used for storage? Want to do something different and have a place to relax. I have some ideas that might help you with your new project.

Put a large sliding glass door between the two rooms. In one corner, two steps up set your extra large tub. How about add a skylight in the ceiling to let in the daylight during the day and the stars at night. Don’t forget to add mir-rors around you tub with lots of candles on the ledge. Candles are so pretty reflecting off the mirrors. Maybe you might want more light so put one or two fancy light fixtures on one wall or in the ceiling. If you have a large bathroom, why not install a fireplace on the opposite side of your glass. A fireplace will add more of a romantic and relaxing sensation to your rooms. On the ledge add some more candles and maybe put a picture over them to go with your theme.Always chose a theme before you start your new project. Having a theme will help you to choose your colors and the mood you want to have when enjoyed your time.

You can also install a large cabinet at the end of your sink. Set a microwave and mini-fridge in it. You’ll need something to keep that wine cold while your relaxing.Have another space in the extra bathroom. Set

a chair in it to sit while putting on your lotions. You’ll want a lot of lotions and oils along with some smelly bubbles to help you relax and set the mood you are in. Remember they should all be the same scent so that the smells all drift from one room to the next. When choosing your carpet be sure to get a natural color you might want to chance you color later on and not the carpet. The sink, counter, stool and tub should all match too but try not to have the same colors as your flooring. To much of one color will make the your room dull and not exciting to be in. It will also make you depressed sometimes if everything is the same color. So, mix and match. When choosing your tile make sure it is small maybe 1x1. The small the tile the less change you have of slipping when getting out of the tub and down the steps.Like to read and relax at the same time. Set a basket near the chair and lay some outdated magazines in it. Get yourself a bath pillow to fit one end of the tub and a magazine pour in the bubble with a glass of wine and read. Sound cozy doesn’t it.

Be creative when organizing your new bathroom. Set a plant on a stand or even one corner of your tub. With the skylights, they will get enough sunlight and the moisture is good for them too.Have more space and don’t know what to do with it. Put a towel rack in to put those entire special and fancy towel and washcloths you have in the cupboard. Fancy towels always make a person feel special along with all the oils and bubbles.Once you have all your bath accessories organized and put away get that fancy and comfortable sleepwear you’ve always wanted and use it only when your in your own special rooms.Putting lotion on and your new sleepwear will make the final relaxation come to and you can then sit back and enjoy the new you.

Auto

Unfortunately, automobile windshields are susceptible to harm even when no one is inside or operating the vehicle. What is more surprising is when they incur damage without being touched by another vehicle! It’s especially true in Houston, where there are many stones, pebbles and debris flying around, leav-ing many Texas car owners wondering if windshields are too fragile for their conditions!Well, rest assured that your car’s windshield is stronger than it appears. In fact, it is actually considered a safety feature, since it is structurally designed to absorb the impact of more than half of the car roof’s strength in a roll-over accident. It also withholds airbag pressure in head-on collisions. (At an airbag deploy speed of approximately 200 miles per hour, the importance and strength of windshield glass can’t be underestimated!)In all likelihood, your existing windshield has passed the industry standards for design and strength. If it is the original auto glass, the installation is also probably acceptable as well. But what if your car has required windshield replacement since rolling off the assembly line? There is much written about improperly installed window shields possessing the potential for injury to car occupants, but chances are good that you’re safe. There are several requirements the

professionals must adhere to when replacing or repairing windshields, and most reliable business owners have no intention of receiving bad publicity or lawsuits. However, your vehicle may suffer a hole, crack or shattering of its glass. Regardless whether it’s due to a preventable or non-preventable accident, you should take it in for repair as soon as possible, as this kind of damage could weaken the glass-especially if in the windshield-and is very hazardous should an accident occur. If and when you have such a situation, there are aspects to keep in mind while looking for windshield repair and replacement.First, check into materials and their use. Try to obtain a name-brand glass (generic ones may cause leaking) and 2-part urethane-the black, glue-like material holding the glass to the car body. (Under no circumstances allow this process to be done with “butel”; it never hardens completely.) If the actual moldings need replaced, they are an additional price, but a necessity if yours are old or broken. The bottom material (cowling) should be removed as well, so that there will be proper adhesion at the base of the windshield.Next, make sure that technicians sand and prime, so that the urethane adheres directly to metal, instead of old rust. Ideally, they should wear new gloves or use suction cup

handles to avoid getting hand oil on the glass (it could prevent proper adhesion). The windshield should not be placed on any unstable surface; a rack or saddle should be used. The technician (along with you, if desired) should thoroughly inspect the auto glass while it is thus posi-tioned. Chips, nicks or chunks may have broken from the edges during shipping, and are not acceptable.

If used, the pressure from the urethane bond will not be completely even and irregular weak spots will be created in the windshield, resulting in susceptibility to future damage. When finished with the installation, the technician should remove and vacuum all bits of glass, and replace the rearview mirror. If wiper blades are old, they too should be replaced as they could damage a new windshield.Keep in mind that auto glass replacement should take between 45-60 minutes. (Two installers should be on the job for a larger, taller van-type vehicle.) You should receive clear instructions as to when it will be safe to drive the vehicle. Generally, the urethane will harden and adhere quickly in Houston’s warm weather, but cars equipped with passenger side airbags will take longer. It is possible to drive the vehicle in one hour if the proper urethane was used. In addition, you should receive a warranty on both the glass and labor. Any glass defects not noticed previously should allow you a free re-installation, and if a shop does not offer this, find another who does. Finally, remember that windshield repairs or auto glass replacement due to chipped or broken glass should be able to be claimed through your insurance provider of comprehensive auto claims.Professional Houston windshield replacement providers will bill your insurance-after receiving your deductible. However, some may request that you contact your provider yourself, since their bottom line rates negotiated with carriers may be lower than what are charged for cash transactions.

Improving automotive safety is not a new initiative for global automakers; it’s been a part of their business plan for years. One part of the equation that has evolved over time is the increased emphasis of the automotive designer’s role in overall vehicle safety. Safety is no longer the sole responsibility of a handful of interior, electrical and mechanical engineers; today’s designers are taking a much more proactive role in ensuring that safety is a priority in vehicle design.

There have always been two paths to improving vehicle safety: prevention and protection. Naturally, prevention...the major goal of which is keeping people, objects and vehicles away from each other and out of harm’s way...is paramount. Accident prevention is influenced by many hundreds of factors and became a concern the moment multiple vehicles began to share the same road. Many of the advances in prevention were aimed at making us better drivers, such as legislation that addressed vehicle lighting, turn signals and basic demands on components such as windshields, mirrors and tires. As more cars and trucks hit the road, so did an increase in the rate of accidents and injuries. This led to further requirements and laws for driver education, roadway signage, design of pedestrian crossings, speed limits and highway design. It is this approach that brought about much of the early advances in preventing accidents. Many point to the invention of the three-point seat belt as one of the earliest advancements in occupant safety. Engineers are credited with introducing the modern seat belt in 1959, and the immediate impact the seat belt made in crash safety led to it becoming a basic requirement for all vehicles. It took many more years before laws were passed requiring occupants to buckle up.Nowadays, safety is viewed from a variety of disciplines and examined in more ways than ever before. Automotive designers are looking far beyond body lines and chrome enhancements. They are closely involved in the structural integrity of a vehicle during impact. Automotive designers will always receive the most accolades for the beauty of their designs, but in truth they are just as deeply involved “beneath the skin” when it comes to safety. Here are some examples:Preventative SafetyTo meet the objective of preventative safety, automotive engineers must ensure that a vehicle provides excellent road visibility for the driver. Proper road visibility is a key factor in identifying problems quickly and making the correct decision in good time. Poor visibility, particularly in inclement weather, leads to dramatic increases in the rates and severity of road accidents.

Control Assistance SystemsControl assistance systems such as ABS, or anti-lock brakes, aid the safe performance of a vehicle. Additional systems like traction and stability control can help enable safer driving by helping to compensate for limits in human ability.Reactive SafetyDesigning with reactive safety in mind is about minimizing damage and injury once an accident is inevitable. This means designing structures and devices that absorb the energy of impact rather than transfer it to a person or object in a dangerous and uncontrollable way.Accident Avoidance TechnologyAccident avoidance technology is truly the next wave of innovation that is beginning to find its way into our vehicles. For more than 20 years, engineers have been facing the challenge of taking very expensive, low-volume, military aerospace radar systems and converting them into less expensive, high-volume radar systems for passenger cars. Their efforts are coming to fruition, and automotive designers are working closely with engineers to incorporate these sophisticated systems into today’s vehicles.

Radar SensorsThe new generation of radar sensors has a wide field of view and will assist the driver with a number of functions, including smart or adaptive cruise control, pre-crash mitigation with autonomous brake assist, pedestrian detection and collision warning. These newest radar sensor systems will enable better performance at a lower cost, making it possible for automakers to offer collision mitigation technology across a larger percentage of their fleets. It’s all about safety, and in today’s highly competitive global marketplace, designers and engineers are quickly realizing that by working together they can bring exciting and safe products to the public quickly and efficiently.

A regular health check is essential to maintain the safety of your car, and spot any problems that may arise from time to time. It is highly advisable that you run a standard test of various vital mechanical elements of your car periodically. Also, it ensures the best chance of your survival in an accident. Regular health checks can spot problems as soon as they become apparent. They also help you save on the mechanic’s bill.Periodical health checks also ensure that your car is in top roadworthy condition. They minimize the chance of mechanical failure whilst you are driving. The most basic check you should conduct is a break test. Before testing the brakes ensure that you are safely ahead of any cars behind. Then apply relatively firm pressure to the breaks. This would help you get a feel of the responsiveness of the break pads. If you find that breaking is getting slightly sluggish, there can be considerable erosion of the break pads. In this case, it is advisable that you seek professional assistance. If you find that your car pulls to one side when you apply brakes it indicates that there is some serious problem and it is time to take it for repair. If the brake pedal sinks to the floor when pressure is applied or if you hear or feel scraping or grinding when you apply the brake, it means that there is some problem with the brakes’ mechanism and it needs to be checked out.

Another basic check you should make is the condition of your tires. Check the thickness of the tread on the tires and the tire pressure. Also check if the tires are out of alignment, which may happen from time to time. A mechanic can solve this problem without too much hassle.Maintaining oil levels in the engine ensures the smooth running of you car’s machinery. Insufficient oil level can cause serious problems to any car. So it is imperative that you check oil levels regularly and rectify any deficiencies. It is better to have an awareness of how your car functions mechanically. A good mechanic can tell you what are essential for the well-being of the vital mechanical components of the vehicle.Sometimes you may feel like the car is difficult to handle or you find the ride less smooth and stable. These symptoms are always indicative of a problem and your car needs immediate attention. Sometimes you feel a vibration that was not there before. It indicates that your tires need balancing. It is also advisable that you check your shock absorbers periodically. If they do not function properly, your car starts riding strangely.

Your car becomes harder to steer when your front wheels are misaligned or you have worn out steering parts. Sometimes you feel that your car wants to pull to the right or left. This also happens when your tires are not properly inflated. But it could also mean that your front wheels are misaligned or damaged in some way. In this case it is advisable that you seek professional help.Engine trouble occurs in various ways. Sometimes you find that your car is hard to start. Other indicators of engine trouble include the car engine running after you remove the key and the car stalling abruptly. Poor acceleration and fewer miles may also indicate an engine trouble.Transmission problems often cause a delayed response when shifting from neutral to drive or reverse gear. Sometimes you may find that your car does not shift during regular acceleration. Also, if you find the shifting hard there could be a problem with transmission. When you encounter one of these problems ask your mechanic to check if it is just a disconnected hose problem or see if the filter is plugged. These repairs are, of course, much simpler and cheaper than replacing your transmis-sion.Tire pressure is very often neglected by car owners. Most people assume that their tires are fine because they look okay. Most people don’t know that proper tire pressure is closely associated with their gas mileage. Proper tire pressure also makes your brakes and suspension system last longer.

Powerful crawler equipment with a blade is called a bulldozer. Even though any heavy engineering vehicle is known by the term “bulldozer”, practically the term refers only to a tractor with dozer blade.

Earlier tractors were used to plough the fields and the first bulldozer was adapted from this tractor. During the First World War a bulldozer was used as an armoured tank because of its versatility in grounds which were soft.

A big thick metal plate is fixed on the front of the bulldozers for use in earthmoving jobs, raising dams and digging canals. As the tractor advances, the blade in front removes layers of soil. To move coal in the coalmines, to move large boulders or cut tree stumps, various specialized blades are used. Earlier, the driver used to sit on top of the bulldozers, which lacked a cabin. When powered down bulldozers were introduced in the 1930’s it became the excavation equipment preferred by contractors. Find more info at http://www.just-bulldozers.info

When equipment was needed to execute large-scale earth works, several bigger models were manufactured by various engineering firms. These machines were noisy, large and powerful and that’s where it got its name “bulldozer”.

More powerful engines, better tracks, more reliable drive tracks, raised cabins and instead of the usual cable operations, hydraulic arms were some of the important improvements included in the bulldozer development.

More precise blade manipulation was made possible by

hydraulic systems. To loosen soils which were rocky, or for pavement bread-up, a ripper claw was also added to bulldozers.

Throughout the world, these durable and tough machines are used by construction units of the military, they are also the preferred equipment for civil construction. Some of the other uses of bulldozers include demolition of enemy structures and clearing mines.

The tracks on the bulldozers give good hold on ground and easy mobility over rough terrain. In order to prevent it sinking in muddy or sandy ground, the wide tracks help the distribution of the weight of the bulldozer over large area. The torque divider in the bulldozer converts its power into ability to drag.

The power of the bulldozer can be gauged by its ability to tow tanks weighing around seventy tons. Areas of obstacles such as shrubbery, and burnt vehicles can be cleared easily.

Over time, bulldozers have been further modified to become a new machine capable of working in various ways which was not possible with the original bulldozer, for instance a hydraulic arm and a large bucket, which can be raised or lowered to scoop earth and load it into trucks.

Camping is a fun adventure for the whole family. Every camping trip takes a little planning to be sure you have necessary supplies and safety equipment. However, camping during the winter has specific cautions that should be taken. Being prepared for anything is essential during the cold.

Clothing is particularly important dur-ing the winter. Whether staying at the campsite or venturing out for a hike, it is important to maintain your body temperature and avoid ill effects of cold weather such as hypothermia. Always wear a hat. Up to eighty percent of your body heat can be lost through your head, so wearing a hat is essential. Dress in lay-ers. Wear several layers of clothing and choose outer clothing that is waterproof. Wear warm, wool socks. Wearing two pairs of socks is advisable for warmth and comfort. Always wear boots that are suited to cold weather and are water-proof. Keeping your feet warm and dry is critical for warding off hypothermia.

Make sure you have a warm fire at your campsite and that tents or sleeping arrangements are properly insulated from the cold. Choose sleeping bags and sleeping mats that are waterproof and have warm linings. Make sure you get into the sleeping bag already warm and dry. Do some exercises and warm up by the fire before entering your tent and going to sleep. If you have wet clothing on, change out of it and only sleep in dry clothes.

You will be less hungry in the winter but do not neglect nutrition. It will help keep your energy level up. Warm drinks will help. Cup of soup or canned soups are great for adding nutrition and warmth to the diet. Stay away from coffee, tea and

alcohol if you are feeling the effects of hypothermia as they will thin the blood and actu-ally advance symptoms.

Be prepared for emergencies. It is not uncommon to have a sudden drastic shift in weather leaving you stranded and unable to return to your campsite. It is also possible to have an accident such as slipping on a slippery slope or having a fall through the ice into freezing water. Being prepared for such disasters may mean the difference between life and death. Always have waterproof matches, food and water supplies, blankets, and first aid kits available.

Taking some time to plan and prepare for camping in the winter is essential for staying safe and making the most of your experience. Make sure you have items to stay warm and nourished. Plan for the

unexpected and have gear available in case of emergency.

The winter sports of luge and bobsledding have a lot in common. Both are featured prominently in the winter Olympics. Both are extremely dangerous for the participants. Both consist of plummeting feet first down the same slippery track at top speeds. Both sports require nerves of steel and reflexes of lightning. However, there are a lot of subtle difference between these two sports that test the limits of how humans relate to gravity.

Bobsledders work in groups of up to four people, whereas luge racers either go solo or work in teams of two. Lugers face the elements head on, whereas bobsledders enjoy some protection with their equipment.

A bobsled is shaped sort of like a canoe with an extended opening. Although the riders are most exposed to the elements, the low front and sides of a bobsled offer the athletes some level of defense from both the force of the wind when they race and from the possibility of serious injury if they crash. The bobsled itself is designed to absorb at least some of the impact of a collision, offering the racers a modicum of protection.

By contrast, a luge is a small piece of equipment roughly the size of a couple of skateboards. Racers cling to this tiny surface to protect themselves from the friction of the track, but in the event of a crash a luge racer’s body is entirely exposed and vulnerable.

Bobsleds accommodate either two or four riders, and much of the athletes training before a bobsled race centers on learning to work together as a team. With top race speeds over one hundred kilometers per hour, it is absolutely essential that a

bobsledding team function as though they were many limbs attached to the same brain. Being even a few fractions of a second out of sync in their movements can send a bobsled team rolling into a major crash instead of flying past the finish line. It can be very difficult for teams to accomplish the kind of precise group coordination that they need in order to excel on the track.

Luging is a sport undertaken by individuals and by teams of two. Without having to worry about coordinating four people to move as one, luge racers are free to focus their training on other aspects of downhill sled racing. Lugers work to improve everything from their position on the sled to their ability to anticipate the nerve-shattering hairpin turns of the track. Luge racers need to be in peak physical condition in order to be able to respond instantaneously to unexpected twists and turns.

In addition to learning how to handle the track, athletes who pursue excellence in the world of luging need to become experts at protecting themselves in the event of a crash. Because luges go at such fast speeds, the differ-ence between reacting immediately to a bump in the road and reacting a few fractions of a second later can be the difference between walking away from a spill and being carried away on a stretcher.About The Author: Written by Gray RollinsGray Rollins is a featured writer for Lugear.
