ANDRITZ METALS accepts the industry 4.0 challenge in being one of the
Leading companies to implement plant automation technologies of the future.
Challenge:
Increased plant productivity
Reduced energy consumption and emissions
Maximized target temperature compliance
Reduced maintenance costs
Solution:
Accurate furnace modelling
Realistic offline simulation
Predictive control with optimization strategies and real-time history/prediction chart
Observer principle (self-adapting model)
Immediate response to external influences
Innovation pool – Level 2 products
for furnace control
22 ANDRITZ METALS presentation 2017
Knowledge of NOx formation in combustion processes is essential for the
success of selective measures for NOx-reduction. ANDRITZ FBB has this
know-how and uses it for development of low NOx burners and zero-flame combustion.
Low NOx and ultra-low NOx burners operate with an
optimized mixture of fuel, combustion air, and high
recirculation of flue gas, not reaching adiabatic flame
temperature and significantly reducing NOx formation.
Preheating combustion air to highly increase the
furnace efficiency and productivity by storage and
recovery of flue products.
Innovation pool – burner systems
Low-NOx burners and zero-flame combustion

25 ANDRITZ METALS presentation 2017
ANDRITZ METALS developed with the PYROMARS and ZEMAP technology
a highly efficient recycling circuit of mixed pickling acid and rinse water -
making the stainless steel pickling an effluent free process.
99% recovery of hydrofluoric acid
99% recovery of metals as oxides
Recovery rates of up to 80% for nitric acid while the
rest is reduced to nitrogen gas and water (N2+H2O)
99% recovery for hydrofluoric acid, 99% for metals
The contaminated water of the rinsing section is
treated with the ZEMAP process minimizing
significantly the consumption of demineralized
water and eliminating the dissolved nitrates
in the effluents.
No waste water treatment
