Companion Learning Space (CLS) - At a Glance Companion Learning Space (CLS) is a Dassault

Systèmes e-learning portal, accessible at the following

URL: https://companion.3ds.com. It is available online,

from anywhere and at any time.

Access is offered to learners (ie a student that needs to

self-train or be trained) who already has an authorized

login ID, or for which their company has ordered

Companion products.

Learners will access a list of training material,

depending on theirs roles, profiles and business needs.

It can be either a Companion course, an assessment

(test), a SCORM course, a video or a PDF file.)

CLS now has a new landing page which offers the capability into CLS to view the details and the description of a

course without being authenticated

Use Search text box to search for a course by its name for instance

User may explore Companion catalog through EXPLORE BY INDUSTRY - EXPLORE BY PRODUCT options

Course results will be displayed depending on DS Industries the course belongs to, or by DS products it belongs to

Dashboard home page This new dashboard home page is a quick access

to your customized content

The dashboard displays My Assignments menu

with only your In progress assignments

My library menu displays only your recently

accessed courses from your library

See All buttons display the full content for each

areas, ie My Assignments and My Library menu

Note: By default your dashboard home page will

display the content of these 2 main menus: to display

My Self-Enroll Assignments and My favorites into

the dashboard, check the 2 corresponding boxes from

My Settings menu

Welcome page

The menus available from your CLS welcome page:

My Assignments: access to your assignments to complete

My Library: displays training material available to you

My Self-Enroll Assignments: access to some trainings in self-enrolment mode available to you depending

on your role/profile

My Favorites: displays the courses you set as favorites

Search area: enables to search for a specific content from courses description or content available in your Library

(see Search page)

My profile: gives you access to your own profile information

Log out button: enables to sign out from the platform

Search Search feature allows to look for learning material inside the

Library once you are authenticated.

If you are looking for a course, type in the course title or

its code and click on the loop icon.

You can type in ‘title: mechanical design’ to search for all

courses whose title contains ‘mechanical design’ string

To search for a course code that you know, type in: ‘code:

3DT’ for instance.

Auto-completion suggests a list of matching course

names, depending of your searched title or code.

If you are interested into some specific strings, type in

those strings and click on the loop icon.

A list of screen cards displays (containing course name

and release).

Search results

How to understand search results?

‘Courses’ tab shows search results for course name and

course description.

Results will be more relevant if you search for course title

Click on the Play button to launch the course itself.

‘All’ tab shows search results extracted from learning

module screens. It stands for a full-text search.

Click on the thumbnail image to launch the learning module.

It opens the screen containing the searched string(s).

Results will be more relevant while searching for a key-word

or a piece of text.

My Assignments (1/2) When a training has been assigned to you, you will receive an

automatic email with assignment details and information

You will access courses from Your Assignments menu

Please check the start and end date of the training from the tooltip on

the Assignment card to make sure it is started

To access your training, go to My Assignments menu

My assignments panel displays your assignment(s) that expires first, with their

description (if any)

You may also use the Filter By feature (by status) or Sort By

feature (alphabetical, Expiring)

By clicking on the Details option, the content of the assignment for

each course is displayed with your own completion status and tracking

details

You can launch and resume the learning module(s) by clicking on the

Play button

Each time you take a course, your

tracking gets updated automatically

My Assignments (2/2) If your Administrator has provided you with an yearly access to some

courses through a CLS assignment, a watermarked PDF version may

be made available to you. To access it:

Go to your Assignments menu, select the training for which you

want to download the PDF, and click on Details

Click on the Download icon for the selected course(s)

A confirmation message invites you to check your emails (at the

address registered on your login ID)

Click on the link from the e-mail, then click on the Download

option to get the PDF you wish (many languages can be

available).

My Library To access your courses, you can use the various filters available and

use the Sort by feature (alphabetical, % completion, New, Recently

Accessed)

Click on Details option to display the course description and details

Content tab: shows modules, their duration and your own

completion and status for each of them

Details tab: shows course description and objectives, like

version, duration, audience, course code, level, languages each

time this information exists

You can also launch the course from this description page by clicking

on the Play buttton

Play button will resume the course where you left.

User completion (in %) is automatically refreshed on the course card

Each time you take a course, your tracking gets updated automatically

My Library How to select another course language?

To run a course in a different language than english (by default), click its

title from the course card, then from Content tab, use the Language

option and select the language you wish to run that course.

If no other language is available, course only exists in one language only.

You may choose to set your courses to be launched by default in another

language then english. To do this, please go to your Settings or refer to

User Settings section.

My Self-Enroll Assignments & My Favorites My Self-Enroll Assignments displays the assignments you can

self-enroll to, which are made available to you according to your

role(s) and profile

To self-enroll to a non moderated assignment displayed in your

self enroll assignments, click Enroll link

You are getting enrolled automatically and can access courses

from My Library menu

To self enroll to a moderated assignment and request for a

license to the Administrator, click Request license link

You will get a confirmation message once approval is processed

and license granted to you

My Favorites displays the courses you prefer:

To set a course as favorites, click the star icon at the top of the

course card. To remove it, click again the star icon

User Profile

My profile icon include 3 options:

My Role, My Settings and Need Help? sections

My Role: enables you to switch from a role to another if you have more

than one (3 roles exist: Student, Admin and Teacher)

Need Help?: displays the most Frequently Asked Questions document,

this Student Guide, Contact Us panel, and a Report an issue feature that

directly send an email to Companion Support mailbox in case you want to

report an issue you might be facing with CLS or with a course.

My Settings: please refer to below content to know more on all features

available to you and how to customize your CLS display.

User Settings (1/5) My Settings option from Me icon: enables you to update your personal

information, customize your dashboard, edit the default language for courses, etc.

This menu displays 4 differents options:

My Account: displays your personal information, your roles and privileges

My Profile: displays your selected filters

Settings:

By default your dashboard home page only shows My Assignments and

My Library content.

It also contains many options to customize your display, like course default

language, and Library View for instance.

Change Password: at anytime you can reset your password from here or from

Login Panel (Forgot Password option). Except if you have a DS Passport

account, you can not reset it from CLS but from www.3ds.com website

User Settings (2/5) Customize your dashboard page

You may decide to edit the number of card rows displayed on

your dashboard page.

By default, it displays 2 rows of course cards for My

Assignments and for My Library but you may want to display

more or less rows from the drop down list.

Display Settings

By default, your CLS interface and Course Language are set

to English. To select another language, click the dropdown list.

You may chose to display the ‘Take A Tour’ panel at startup,

and/or the ‘New course tree window’.

It is also possible to customize your library to display courses

as Thumbnail or List.

Search Settings

It allows you to select the default tab for your search results

Default Library View

List View

You may change your Library view by switching from

default Thumbnail view to List View

To do this, click either the grey square grey icons or

the horizontal grey icons at the right side of the

Library

If your library is large enough, it may give you a

quicker access to your courses

It displays in one row the course title with its image,

its release, its course duration, your tracking and a

Play button to resume it where you were left

Search Settings

It customizes the display of your search results on your Library.

Search results display can be edited from My Settings/Settings option.

By default, Search results tab is set to ‘Courses’ but it can be switched to ‘All’ by selecting the

‘All’ option.

‘All’ shows results for full-text searches while ‘Courses’ shows results for course name.

User Settings (5/5) My Profile

You may set some customized filters to be applied by default on your

Library and your search results

Filters can be set from My Profile or directly from My Library.

From My Profile icon, click My settings then select My profile option.

Select the wanted filters for the proposed options and click Save

Profile.

From My Library, each time you add or remove a filter that differs

from what you have set in your profile, you will have the capability to

override those from your Settings by using the Save Filters button.

These filters will be applied by default to your Library and search

results. You may edit them at anytime.

They are automatically applied on your Library.

Companion course Progression window

Course details window

For some Companion format courses, you may see this

window: A new font implementation gives you some details

on your progression on the chapters of a course.

Bold means you have not started the chapter yet

Italic bold means you have started the chapter, but not

fully completed it

Normal means you have completed the whole chapter

It is helpful to identify which sections you may have missed

and what you have completed. For that, just click the Tree

icon, display the structure and check.

NOTE: This font implementation does not exist for latest

SCORM course releases (Storyline/Ispring).

Companion course - How to search?

Search capability is available in Companion courses.

The search box is located above the course tree. Make sure you

click the Tree icon to display the search field.

This search is a full-text search and the search is done in all course

screens, texts or images.

Upon search, only the search results are displayed on the course

tree.

Navigate through them to display the page containing your search.

Click the cross icon to reset the search and display the whole tree

structure again.
