COMMUNITY BUILDINGUrban Design Certificate
Effective place-making and place-keeping is both an art and a science. Designing places that combine sustainability with beauty and function is the urban design challenge of this century—but it’s attainable. An alliance of architecture, landscape architecture, planning, civil engineering, and a host of other disciplines will allow our cities, towns, and villages of all sizes reach their full potential.
In this applied professional program, you’ll take an interdisciplinary approach to Canadian urban design issues by studying the economic, social, and
environmental considerations involved in sustainable urban design. You’ll also enhance your visual communication skills and choose electives in transportation, urban revitalization, the public realm, integrated neighbourhoods, and more.
Study with Canada’s leading professionalsWe bring together a variety of leading urban design professionals who are passionate about planning, designing, and building livable communities. We offer most of our courses in Vancouver, with select offerings in Ottawa and Edmonton.
Whether you’re an urban planner from Nanaimo, a landscape architect from Calgary, or civil engineer from Vancouver, the program will give you the opportunity to create a network of instructors and other professionals and empower you to make a difference in your community.
