What is TB?Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection spread through inhaling tiny droplets from the coughs or sneezes of an infected person.

TB mainly affects the lungs. However, it can affect any part of the body, including the lymph glands, bones and nervous system.

Those suspected of having active tuberculosis should be referred to the nearest acute hospital TB service, in the first instance. The Community TB Service is always happy to advise on this and any initial investigations.
