Elton John Did you know that Elton John, or Reginald Kenneth Dwight started playing piano when he was only four years old? By the time he was 11, he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music. Elton John today is considered one of pop music’s greatest survivors.

Elton John is an English rock singer-songwriter, composer, pianist and occasional actor. Four-decades since the 1969 release of his first album, Empty Sky, Elton John is still creating some of the finest music of his career. Elton has sold more than 250 million records, making him one of the most successful artists of all time. He has also made musical songs for Aida, Lion King, and Billy Elliot. Elton John has won six Grammies, four Brit Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a Tony Award.

Elton John was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. Having been named Commander of the Order of the British Empire, Elton received a knighthood from Queen Elizbeth II for “services to music and charitable services.” Elton has performed at a number of royal events, such as the funeral of Princess Diana, and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert. Good Morning to the Night, which was released and rocketed #1 on UK album chart in 2012, by Elton John versus Pnau was handpicked as one of the five official songs for the London Olympic Games.

This will be Elton’s second performance in Seoul. Forty years ago, during April 1972, Elton John’s single Rocket Man was released around the world. This concert tour will commemorate the 40 years since the release of Rocket Man as well as being the celebration of Elton’s greatest hits. Fans can expect this timeless entertainer to take them on a journey through his mutli-decade career.

Norah JonesNorah Jones is an American singer-songwriter, pianist, and ac-

tress. She is the daughter of Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar and Sue Jones. In 2002, she started her music career with the release of the commercially successful and critically acclaimed album Come Away With Me, a fusion of jazz, pop, and country music.

The album was certified a diamond album in 2002, selling over 26 million copies which earned her five Grammies. She has released Feels Like Home in 2004, released Not Too Late in 2007, the same year she made her film debut in My Blueberry Nights and she gained Platinum status with the album The Fall, selling over a million copies in 2009. Her fifth studio album, Little Broken Hearts, was released on April 27, 2012.

It has been 7 years since she came to Korea in 2005. We are looking forward to seeing her performance in Seoul soon. Her voice would fit perfectly with the autumn in Seoul, and she will present special memory to us.

Tickets to the Elton John and Norah Jones Concert can be purchased at Moyer or K-16 Community Activities Center (CAC). Tickets for the Norah Jones Concert range from $92~$118.00 and tickets for the Elton John Concert range from $100-$152.00. For more information, please call Moyer CAC at DSN 723-3291, K-16 CAC at DSN 741-6030 or go to the USAG Yongsan, FMWR Facebook page.

The great part is no previous experience is necessary to join your local US Army Rugby Korea team. Presently there are enough experienced team members who are experienced to train non-experienced players. “Biggest focus for new players is to omit all knowledge of football prior to playing rugby and to be relatively in good shape due to the demands of the game”, explains Captain Palacios. The cost to join is free but members need to go to USARugby.org and register for a CIP number which costs thirty five dollars and also need to pay ninety eight thousand WON for a kit, team jersey, shorts and socks. If you’re interested in joining your local rugby team join by; sending a message to US Army Rugby Korea’s Facebook, email [email protected], or contact Captain Palacios at 010-2731-8441 or email him on his Global email account. Another way to join is show up at practice. USAG Yongsan’s Rugby practice is held on every Tuesday from 2000-2130 at Field #12 next Collier Community Fitness Center Parking Lot and every Saturday from 1000-1200 at Seoul American High School Field. Community members are welcome to participate by attending games and cheering from the sidelines. The next rugby opportunity will be held either the twelfth of nineteenth of November featuring an EXPACT team and Military rugby team at the Seoul American High School Field. Dates can be verified at the above contact information tools. Thank you to Captain Palacios for making a positive impact to our community and I hope to see all US Military Instillations have a rugby team in the near future.
