    PATTAYA PATTAYA T H A I L A N DT H A I L A N D

ave anything planned for President's Day

weekend? If not, come and join FMWR's HCommunity Recreation Division (CRD) on a trip to Pattaya, Thailand for a four night,

    five day mini-vacation!

    What's so great

    about Pattaya?

Pattaya is one of Thailand's most ironic

travel destinations and its home to an

    amazing selection of events, activities,

and most of all, the perfect scenery. Like

Korea, Pattaya is subject to the annual

monsoon season which is heaviest from

May through October but on the contrary,

Pattaya stays hot all year round. Being that

CRD has planned to take this trip in February, it

will be considered the perfect weather to visit

Pattaya with very little rain and very warm

breezes. This will give you the chance to visit one

of their abundant, clean and sandy beaches which

could actually be located just a few steps outside

    your hotel.

With four days of complete leisure, you have the opportunity to

golf, scuba dive, ride horses, drive go-carts, shoot guns, or experience

a whole new selection of mouth-watering cuisine.

According to guidetothailand.com, Pattaya has thirteen golf courses in

the area. Golfers can expect to see manicured greens, caddies and

perfectly raked traps. If you don't play golf but love the ocean,

there is plenty for you to discover. Plenty of dive shops and

    Continue to Top Right

schools offer night and day trips to the islands in

the Gulf of Thailand off Pattaya Bay which a variety

of marine life and shipwrecks reside. After scuba

diving in the Gulf of Thailand, you can end your

day by visiting some of Thailand's main attractions

like seeing Thailand's national symbol- an elephant.

If you have the chance to visit Pattaya Elephant

Village, you will be able to ride the elephants for

just a small fee. You can also visit tropical gardens,

go to amusement parks, zoos, visit Mini Siam (a

replica park that has models of the Eiffel Tower,

Trevi Fountain, Statue of Liberty & etc.), or if you

haven't in the past, you can visit Ripley's Believe It

or Not. Other activities available in Pattaya include

lawn bowling, fishing, sailing, playing tennis, go to

the shooting range, or have a paint ball war. These

are just a few of many activities that will be

    available on this trip.

If you enjoy trying new foods, Thailand will amaze

you with a mix of spice and plenty of flavor. Thai

food is internationally famous and the secret to its

fame is harmony. The combination of spices and

herbs for each dish will make you wonder why you

never had this amazing food sooner.

The trip will take place from 17~21 February and

patrons can sign up at Moyer or K-16 Community

Activities Center (CAC). Prices can range from

$199~$1,299 so call and find out how you can sign

up today! For more information, please call Moyer

CAC at 723-3291, K-16 CAC at 741-6030 or go to

the USAG Yongsan, FMWR Facebook page.

The great part is no previous experience is necessary to join your local US Army Rugby Korea team. Presently there are enough experienced team members who are experienced to train non-experienced players. Biggest focus for new players is to omit all knowledge of football prior to playing rugby and to be relatively in good shape due to the demands of the game, explains Captain Palacios. The cost to join is free but members need to go to USARugby.org and register for a CIP number which costs thirty five dollars and also need to pay ninety eight thousand WON for a kit, team jersey, shorts and socks. If youre interested in joining your local rugby team join by; sending a message to US Army Rugby Koreas Facebook, email [email protected], or contact Captain Palacios at 010-2731-8441 or email him on his Global email account. Another way to join is show up at practice. USAG Yongsans Rugby practice is held on every Tuesday from 2000-2130 at Field #12 next Collier Community Fitness Center Parking Lot and every Saturday from 1000-1200 at Seoul American High School Field. Community members are welcome to participate by attending games and cheering from the sidelines. The next rugby opportunity will be held either the twelfth of nineteenth of November featuring an EXPACT team and Military rugby team at the Seoul American High School Field. Dates can be verified at the above contact information tools. Thank you to Captain Palacios for making a positive impact to our community and I hope to see all US Military Instillations have a rugby team in the near future. ecember's Community Spotlight is given to

Command Sergeant Major (CSM) John Justis Dfor his outreach to the community through the Give the Gift of a Lifetime campaign.

Lung Cancer is the leading cause of death in the United

States and the world. Smoking is the principle cause of

about 90% of lung cancer in men and almost 80% in

women. Don't be one of those statistics!

Join me, CSM John Justis, in giving the Gift of a

Lifetime. Give your Family a stronger person. Give the

Army a stronger Soldier. Quit smoking on Christmas; be

    smoke-free by the New Year.

I know how hard it is. Believe me, I have quit before. In

fact, I was smoke-free for nearly a decade. But I started

smoking again after my last deployment. This time,

with your encouragement and support I WILL QUIT

    FOR GOOD.

If you need help, the Area II Tobacco Cessation Sessions

are open to all Service members (active duty and

Retirees), Families, Civilians and contractors. The free

and confidential classes meet every Wednesday from 10
