COMMUNITY BASED HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMS INCLUDING FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONS/STUDENTS
Community based health education programs are designed to reach people outside of traditional health care settings. These settings may include schools, worksites, health care facilities, and community organizations. Educational and community‐based programs encourage and enhance health and wellness by educating community members on topics such as chronic diseases, injury and violence prevention, mental illness/behavioral health, unintended pregnancy, oral health, tobacco use, substance abuse, nutrition and obesity prevention, and physical activity.

Community gardens can greatly improve people’s quality of life by bringing about great social and health benefits such as creating cultural and community development opportunities through the involvement of people from different backgrounds, reducing crime rates, enhancing youth development, improving health through healthy eating, beautifying neighborhoods, creating more green spaces, producing nutritious foods, reducing family food budgets, conserving resources, and creating opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy and education.

HIV PREVENTION/OUTREACH AND SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAMS
HIV/AIDS Prevention & Outreach programs provide education and prevention services which include individual and group education, assessment, and referral to services related to HIV/AIDS. PEER SUPPORTS (RECOVERY COACHES)
Peer supports are designed and delivered by people (recovery coaches) who have experienced both substance use disorder with subsequent success in recovery. As such, these peers bring a myriad of experiential firsthand knowledge to help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the possibility of relapse. The services can effectively extend beyond the clinical setting into the everyday environment of those seeking to achieve or sustain recovery.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS Youth development programs guide youth in their journey toward independence in young adulthood by teaching them the skills and knowledge
