Over 400 students participated in the GISD middle school solo and ensemble contest for band, orchestra, choir and piano. Over 200 pieces of artwork were submitted to Junior VASE. 652 pieces were entered in Regional 10E VASE. 52 students advanced to State VASE competition. 29 received the top score of 10. Exemplary 52 art students from all 7 high schools advance to State VASE. The South Garland theatre one act play advanced to Area. The Rowlett HS Theatre arts advanced to the Regiol level. The Hudson MS choir was chosen to peform at the Texas Music Educators Convention in February. Over 50 students advanced to the State UIL Solo and Ensemble contest in Austin.
