We fill out forms.” —Sandra Kapell, executive VP, human resources and administration for Cablevision Systems TCM TAKES HOLLYWOOD WITH 6TH CLASSIC FILM FESTIVAL Event is part of network’s effort to expand earning potential beyond air WHEN IT LAUNCHED nearly 21 years ago, Turner Classic Movies set out to deliver cherished film favorites to a national TV audience. More recently, the network has also been occupying hallowed cinephile ground, Hollywood Boulevard, to lure viewers out of their living rooms for a festival where treasured work screens in some of the country’s best surviving movie houses. The TCM Classic Movie Festival, whose sixth edition runs from March 26-29, features several dozen films. This year’s lineup ranges from The Sound of Music to Raiders of the Lost Ark to Marriage Italian Style, with several restored films screening as world premieres, complete with celebrity and red-carpet trappings. “Our goal with the festival has always been to bring together the TCM community,” says Genevieve McGillicuddy, the network’s VP of brand activations and partnerships. Adds GM Jennifer Dorian: “The fes- tival has a convention-like atmosphere to it.” Focusing on live events isn’t a brand-new concept for cable networks, especially as they look to develop new revenue streams in addition to the dual income from distributors and advertisers. Dorian, who became GM in January after working in other parts of the Turner universe since 2000, also has worked at Coca-Cola and Pizza Hut.
