Always wanted to learn sign language?Can’t find the time to go on a full timecourse? Then why not come along to ourtaster session!

No previous knowledge is required. Thisworkshop is for absolute beginners.

In three hours, you’ll learn from a nativesign-language user, in a fun and supportiveenvironment, and by the end you’ll be ableto spell your name and have a basicconversation in sign language - and you willknow if learning sign language is for you.

This November, he brings his expertise and knowledge to the AlbanyCentre in a series of six classes that will take your photography wellbeyond point and click. Albany Centre Outreach has partnered with Aspire Higher* to deliver a CVworkshop on how to write an effective CV.

Being offered a job interview is anachievement. However, in most casesapplicants fail to be offered an interviewand don’t understand why. More oftenthan not, it is because their CV has notdone the job.

A good CV must attract attention, givethe required information in a structuredand concise way - and make the employer want to meet the person.

This workshop has been designed for pupils, school leavers, students, graduates and jobs seekers who need guidance on writing an effective CV. Increase your chances of gaining an interview by understanding the selectioncriteria and what an employer is looking for. We look at:

1. What is a CV and why is it important2. CV components, structure, style and length3. What makes a good CV – 5 keys steps to make your CV stand out4. Key mistakes when writing a CV

There will be a question and answer session and CV templates will also beavailable to take away. The workshop will be delivered by Suleman Dar, a Recruitment Specialist from Monster – ‘worldwide leader in successfully connecting people to job opportunities’. Suleman has over 8 years recruitmentexperience and has helped many organisations from various industries recruitkey personnel into their business.

Presented byGraham Angus and Michael Glancy of Glasgow-basedorganisation The Fat Loss Coaches (see also page 6),the workshop uses a series of short lectures on variousaspects of keeping trim and well, interspersed with interactive demonstrations of fat-burning exercises that you can easily perform at home.

On the run up to Christmas we can begin tofeel a bit jaded and in need of some self-care. Aromatherapy oils are wonderful forpromoting relaxation and wellbeing.

In this workshop you will use one or two safeoils to give and receive a hand massage.You will learn some self-massage tech-niques for stress relief and how to use oils tosupport restful sleep. Participants are askedto bring a small towel for their own use.

Create your own Masterpiece

This is a six week programme that allows you to experiment by using acrylics and watercolours on canvas to create your own masterpiece!

The Broken Biscuits cookery club

Massage therapy with April Higgins

A monthly family cookery club, hosted by Tom Shields.This is a community project on a tight budget, supported by help from local chefs and businesses.

Families with children aged five or more are able towork in hands-on demonstrations with top visitingchefs and expert local cooks. Broken Biscuits goes ona journey taking in the Mediterranean diet, the Andalucian diet, the Fife diet... ...and the Woodlands diet!

Laryna shares her love for felt making with fluffy andcolourful sheep’s wool fibres in four sessions, whichcan be booked separately. This is a great opportunityto learn a new skill, or improve your felt skills and cre-ate a beautiful gift for yourself or a loved one.

All workshops are for adults and children from 8 years upward. Children should be accompanied by an adult!

Christmas fun at the Albany Centre

Bring the kids to the Albany Centre on saturday 7th December! Everychild will receive a small gift from Santa, and there will be Christmasmusic, card making and crafts activities for kids of all ages, as well asface painting - and cake and juice for everyone!

Parents can have an onsite massage while they are in the building, andwe will have stalls where local charities will be selling Christmas cardsand stocking-fillers. Get some of your Christmas shopping done, helplocal charities, and entertain the children - perfect!
