• Purpose:
• This Housing Repair program provides loans and grants to very low-income homeowners to repair, improve, or modernize their dwellings or to remove health and safety hazards.

Combining Our Senior & Veteran Housing Programs
• J.M. was a homeless, disabled Senior Veteran. He had been living in an old shed for a number of years. He was referred to CAN from our Independent Living Center. They helped him get his VA Benefits started, and we helped him get into a new home.

• The funding sources used to provide J.M. an affordable home:
1. HAC-SHOP Funds-$15,000
2. Framing for Hope (Home Depot Donations)-$10,000
3. HUD-HOME-$15,000
4. FHLB-AHP-$10,000
Total Mortgage Reduction & Cost Savings $ 50,000
His First Mortgage is $40,000-House Payment $ 315.00 for 15 years

The CDBG & Housing Trust Fund Grants have a 5 year Retention-The Tenant is allowed to purchase Home after 5 years. A percentage of their rent can applied toward Down Payment

Energy Efficiency Ideas
• Install Ductless Mini-Split Heat/Air Units
• Cost per HVAC unit lower than traditional HVAC unit
• ENERGY STAR systems rated systems with dramatic increases all the way up to 26 SEER. .which means low utility bills!
Tankless Water Heaters
For homes that use 41 gallons or less of hot water daily, demand water heaters can be 24%–34% more energy efficient than conventional storage tank water heaters.

Work Opportunities Tax Credit
• The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a Federal tax credit available to employers who hire individuals from eligible target groups with significant barriers to employment.
• Tax-exempt organizations can take advantage of WOTC by hiring eligible veterans and receiving a credit against the employer’s share of Social Security taxes.
