Study Focus
• Analyse the degree to which digital inclusion initiatives have enabled the development of a skills base in Wales that are likely to improve digital participation.
• Detail and analyse the spread of digital inclusion activity.
• Consider parallel developments in digital inclusion elsewhere in the ecology of new technology developments.
• Look beyond the immediate context to the ways in which strategic planning for the new developments in digital inclusion are taking shape.
• Interview a wide range of personnel in key areas.
Study Focus
The study hypothesis is that there is a correlation between enabling meaningful digital inclusion and the manner in which internet tools are constructed and utilised to support excluded members of society express their sense of identity and cultural heritage.
The study will be driven by investigative research to respond to the following lines of inquiry:
– What methodologies prove effective in hooking people into engaging with the internet and how can these approaches be applied by policy makers to promote inclusive practice in the digital delivery of public services?
– What is the role of the People’s Collection Wales / Digital Heritage as a hook mechanism in enabling digital participation of excluded groups?
– What new forms of digital literacy are required to prepare new online participants with the fast evolving internet?
