“JANUARY,” my favorite time of year in Chicago...I think what keeps us going is knowing that during the summer, we enjoy a little slice of heaven. It is truly a joy to be in the City, in the harbor and on our boats. The icing on the cake, so to speak, is Burnham Park Yacht Club. See how I pump us all up in the middle of the winter. Glass half full! FYI: 1. The Club clean-up was a lesson of great people working hard for the betterment of all. If you get your butts down to the Club, you’ll see for your- self. We had eighteen who accomplished this. Thank you to them and to those who couldn’t make it, give a thanks when you see them. Pic- tures are in “The Breeze.” 2. We are having a Super Bowl Party at the Club on...Super Bowl Sunday (February 7, 2016). Please come. You will not be disappointed. (I sound like that car salesman.) Lots of food, drink specials, buckets of beer, squares, etc. 3. The Chicago Boat Show was very successful for BPYC. We have a lot of names/emails of people who stopped by who expressed an interest. We will be following up with them after the show. A special thank you to Phil Edwards for coordinating the booth and setting it up. (Will you knock it off, Phil? It’s getting to be a regular thing to thank you for all you do.) Also, thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to help with the booth during the show. 4. The weekend after Super Bowl, we are having a special Valentine’s Day dinner the Saturday night (2/13/16) before that special day on Sunday. More information to follow in The Breeze. Please come and call for a reservation. This annual event is always top shelf and elegant. You and your special person have to do the rest. (Usually a couple carats does the trick...Or is it carrots?) I would like to express my gratitude to all of you who found it in your hearts to give a little extra to our team of employees through the Christmas Fund. They work very hard and often- times during slow hours put in a lot of time and get no tips. They are really loyal to us. On a special note, Ophelia, one of our servers, has just recently received full citizenship. She is a U.S. citizen and so proud. I am too. Ophelia is our very talent- ed and unofficial decorator for special events. Congrats to Ophelia! Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 5, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. until noon for the first of two Dock and Grounds Spring Clean Up. Focus will be on the shed. Especially for all of you who wanted to help with the Club clean-up but couldn’t make it. Well, here is your second chance. Paulette Horne is the chair- man and is in charge. Call Paulette, Samantha or me to let us know you’ll be there. It will also serve to finish a few of the Club clean up projects. Friday, January 29, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. is the special election at the Club. Please stop by and congratulate the new position filled and the new member of your Board of Directors. There is also a Business meeting on Friday, February 5, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. and a Social Meeting on Friday, March 4, 2016, same time. Mark your calendars. Get involved, see what’s happen- ing with your Club and have a cocktail and some chow. Hope to see you there. There’s a lot has happening at Burnham Park Yacht Club! With the assistance of staff and volunteer’s the club cleanup was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who helped out. Your enthusiasm made such a difference!

BPYC provided a shuttle to and from the boat show. What a great way to avoid the hassles of paid parking and the quarter mile walk to the show! The club, once again, had a display booth at the show and had a prime location next to the America’s Cup display! Thanks again to all the volunteers who worked at this event!

Finally, don’t forget to check the club calendar for upcoming events like the special election Friday, January 29 th. and the Super Bowl party, February 7th. Put your name on the board, and let’s see who’ll be lucky this year! Don’t let the weather get you down… Only 90 days ‘til the harbor opens!!

Hello Everyone!

I am happy to report that the billing is now in order and statements are going out in a timely fashion. Our delinquencies are becoming less and less. Most of you have made great efforts to become current and BPYC really appreciates your efforts. If you are one of the few with remaining over due balances, please stay in touch with Sam. It is our goal to have everyone current before the Season starts.

Our bills are paid and current, and systems are in place to keep them that way. We have ample funds to get through the winter off season and are positioned for a GREAT 2016.

Happy New Year to all!
