How To Enter Screen Size Analysis in METSIM for Windows.

Turn on the Particle Size Analysis Switch by clicking on the Model

Parameters Button, then the Calc Options tab and finally click the Particle

    Size Analysis box.

From the Input Menu select SSNI

    Screen Sieve Series for Data

Entryand the window on the right

    will appear.

Input data is to be entered for the

range 17.0 IN to 1.05 IN so blank

out all the fields from 0.742 IN

down. Click the OK Button when

    you are finished.

    After entering the

    mass flowrates and

    assays click on the

    SSA Button. The

    window on the rightwill appear.

    Screen Size Analysis Array, SSA

METSIM stores screen size analysis data for a model in a single array, SSA. To

display the SSA matrix, enter SSA at the APL prompt. An example SSA array is as

    follows:

    37.04 117.28 89.5 67.9 49.38 40.12 27.79 23.46 20.99 17.28

    0 0 16.43 54.3 47.95 39.97 27.76 23.45 20.99 17.28

    37.04 117.28 73.07 13.6 1.43 0.16 0.01 0 0 0

    0 0 29.79 51.51 43.42 32.96 24.59 17.62 11.95 7.59

    0 0 46.23 105.8 91.37 72.93 52.36 41.07 32.94 24.87

    Properties of SSA

The number of rows in SSA are the number of streams in the flowsheet. The number of

columns in SSA are the number of size fractions specified in the model. In thearray above, there are 5 streams and 10 size fractions specified.

If streams are added or deleted, the SSA array is also changed.

Each value in SSA is the weight of solids in each size fraction of each stream. The

units of weight are the same units selected in Model Parameters Option CALC

PARAMETERS. Therefore, both the following APL expressions will yield the same

    result:

    SI VSTR S

    +/ SSA[S;]

where SI is variable for all solid inorganic components, and S

    is a stream number.

As defined in METSIM, a size fraction is the smallest particle size that cannot go

through screen mesh of that size.
