Case Study - BSI

We were approached by thecompany to deliver a bespokegas course for a group of TestEngineers. This enabled theengineers to gain anunderstanding of some of the basic principles behind the work that they carry out on domestic gas appliances. The programme was agreedfollowing an initial meetingbetween college Gas Trainersand the head of the training atBSI. This led to college staffrefining the standard ACStraining to meet the specificneeds of the company.

The course included:Tightness testing and purging, gas safety controls, basic gaspipe work including; practicalpipe bending, soldering andpipe sizing, combustion andflues. This gave the engineersa basic understanding of howappliances should work andwhat can cause theappliances to work incorrectly. This enabled their engineersto test the appliances morethoroughly and enable them to make better informeddecisions concerning thesafety of the appliance on test.

At Stephenson College we can design and providebespoke courses to meet your company’s specificrequirements. We also provideboth certificated and non-certificated trainingprogrammes.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAYWell trained, informative and helpful trainers. The facilities at Stephenson College are very goodand the college is modern, clean and wellorganised, the food was good and plentiful.

The subject matter covered was very varied but allrelevant to our trade and environments. The timeallotted for the multiple choice test was ample andallowed plenty of time to recheck answers andamend before submitting the completed test. Asexpected 'Health and Safety' and 'Safe WorkingPractices' were heavily featured throughout andfailure to comply almost certainly means you will fail the course.

The two instructors were well trained, informativeand very helpful and created a calm relaxedatmosphere with plenty of banter. Attendees are required to take boots, overalls and a pen, everything else was supplied by the college.

Accommodation at the local 'Premier Inn' was clean, quiet and comfortable with pleasant staff, and food was of a good standard from the 'Brewers Fair' attached to the hotel.
