Problems with Waking up:

• Stayed up too late the night before• Had too many sweets at bedtime• Have no alarm clock, it didn't go off• Spent time in the middle of the night reading books• Noisy environment• Sleep problems like sleep apnea

Problems with Transportation: • Missed bus• Car won't start• Bike has a flat• Person supposed to give

• Early appointment with doctor, dentist or therapist before school didn't let them off on time

Others:• Maybe they like to stay up late for

computer games or TV programmes

• They don't like the class they are attending

• They don't like the lecturer of that particular lesson

• They are being bullied by friends or seniors in the school and they are afraid to tell anyone too

Others:• Their school is too far away

from their house and this makes them to change a few buses or trains and they had problems to squeeze in or with the timing of when the transport reaches the school

Pack all the items you need for school in the night

before and place them by the door

Designate a shelf, basket, or area for each family

member to place whatever needs to go out the door

in the morning

Check the time table or school calendar before if

there is any special field trip or any other program

and keep the items required for that.

• Check the weather report to plan clothing and outerwear for the next day

• Pick out the clothes you want to wear the night before

• Decide what to have for breakfast to avoid early morning debates. – Keep meals simple, and get

yourself to commit to a choice the night before. Wait until the weekend to have time-consuming breakfasts.

– Some hot items, like pancakes, French toast, etc. can be made ahead of time and reheated.

• To help yourself remember all the things you want done in the morning, take pictures associated with each activity and mount them on poster board as a visual reminder

• Set clocks ahead by ten minutes to help keep you on time in the morning

• Buy an alarm clock that has a back-up battery in the case of a power outage.

• Wake up a half-hour earlier than you currently do, which may mean going to bed earlier too.
