Initial Screening Chat with the team Design Challenge Onsite Interview Welcome to UED

Initial screening

Here you’ll talk to a recruiter who will want to understand

your design background, goals, and further gauge fit with

LinkedIn and our current open roles.

Chat with the team

Here you’ll talk with a couple of people on our team about

your process and experience. These conversations typically

are in-person or over video conference. You’ll want to come

prepared to talk through a couple of projects from your

portfolio.

Design challenge

For the design challenge, you’ll be given a prompt for a UX

problem to solve. We’re interested in not just what your

solution is, but how you got there (I.e. to describe your design

process you could include user flows, brainstorming,

wireframes, etc.). Pro-tip: doing some user research and

validation is always great to see.

Onsite Interview

If your design exercise passes review from our design team,

you’ll be invited onsite. Here, you’ll have an hour to present to

a group of designers and leads. You’ll talk a little about who

you are as a person, walk through your design exercise and

present one or two projects from your portfolio. You will also

have the opportunity to meet and interview with a handful of

people from the same group.

What we’re evaluating

Product thinking

We want to get an idea of your understanding and communication

of the larger business goals and your system-level thinking.

Visual design

We’re looking at your presentation and portfolio as examples of

your design quality and attention to detail.

Interaction design

The work you decide to present should be exemplary of your ability

in building simple, elegant, intuitive, and delightful solutions.

Storytelling

We are eager to understand how you communicate your process,

the context, and results of your work.

Leadership

We work very collaboratively. We want to know how you partner

with stakeholders and how you influence product decisions.

Soft skills

We value feedback a lot at LinkedIn. We are looking to understand

how you respond to feedback and how you collaborate with your

stakeholders.
