Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1451.

On August 3, 1942, the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria set sail from Palos, Spain.

Columbus leaves Genoa in 1470 or 1471 to head to sea.

In the years 1493-1496, Columbus makes a second voyage to the New World.

On October 12, 1942, Columbus and his men spot land. Later that day Columbus steps on land. He names the island San Salvador.

Columbus returns to Spain on March 15, 1493.

Columbus dies on May 20, 1506.

In January of 1492, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain decide to finance Columbus’s voyage to the Indies.
