MISSION STATEMENT Columbia Art Center is dedicated to providing artistic

experiences in the visual arts for all ages and interest levels and to connecting with

local arts organizations and community businesses to create diverse opportunities.

OVERVIEWColumbia Art Center offers year-round art classes, rotating gallery

exhibitions, a gift shop, summer art camp for children, art parties, studio rentals, a

Japanese Garden, art and life enhancement lectures and more! Columbia Art Center

is part of Columbia Association’s Community Services Division and has been part

of Columbia Association for 29 years. It has been a functioning arts school for more

than 30 years and was formerly known as the Antioch Visual Arts College.

RENTALSColumbia Art Center rentals are available in our art galleries,studio rooms and Japanese garden. Enjoy a unique setting filled with originalart for your next event. Art displays change regularly. Our rooms accommodate bridal and baby

showers, corporate meetings, art and craft group meetings, lectures, art project rentals, birthday

parties and celebrations of all sorts, even small weddings. Columbia Art Center provides tables

and chairs. Room setup and take down are responsibility of renter. Please allow set-up and

take-down time in your rental timeframe. For an additional fee, Columbia Art Center can set up

room. Catering is not provided by Columbia Art Center. Please call Columbia Art Center at 410-730-0075

ArtcampArt Camp provides exciting avenues of creativity and discovery to every camper in a healthy and

safe environment. Each week has a unique theme to promote diverse and entertaining projects for

each camp session. Campers experiment with colors, textures and mediums through daily projects

and lessons. Art specialists teach visual and performing arts processes, including printmaking,

drawing and painting, 3-dimensional design, collage, clay, puppetry, skit creation and much more.

The young artists are encouraged to explore their imaginations and develop their own style of

artistic expression. Additional programming includes Zumba® dance class, daily outdoor

recreation time, and swimming once a week. There will be a special collaborative camp project

or show at the end of each one-week session. Campers are grouped together

by age. Please note: Campers are not permitted to go to the village center at any

time during camp or extended care.

Make the last couple weeks of summer the best! The School’s Out program is as funand imaginative as it is educational. Children experience unique opportunities tocreate amazing memories and develop lasting friendships. CLASSES&Unless otherwise noted, supplies are included in the cost of tuition for youth classes. Because Columbia Art Centerwants students to focus on the activity and not worry about getting messy, it is recommended that they wear old clothes or bring a smock for all activities.

YOUNG ARTIST MASTERERY PROGRAM For ages 6-17 Columbia Art Center’s Youth Artist Mastery Program offersstudents the chance to focus on their studies as they honetheir artistic abilities. Whether used as a means for creativeself-expression or to prepare for further artistic endeavors,these classes and workshops will work to expand participants’skill levels and stretch their creativity while buildingconfidence and artistic sensibility.

Who Should Take This Program: Students ages 6-17 whotook or will take classes or workshops at Columbia ArtCenter during the Fall 2015 through the present session.

Program Description: Students are asked to complete fourclasses which will enable them to receive a Level 1 Certificatewhich includes a free portfolio review and a 25-percentdiscount on a future class or workshop.

Participants who complete eight classes will receive a Level 2Certificate that includes a free portfolio review and 50-percentdiscount on a future class or workshop. Participants whocomplete 12 classes will receive a Level 3 Certificate whichincludes a free portfolio review and a free class.

Students will explore the stages involvedin plaster mold production. Class Policies& ProceduresINCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY If Howard County public schools are closed due

to inclement weather, Columbia Art Center will not hold daytime adult classes or any youth

classes. For information regarding adult afternoon and evening classes and all weekend classes,

please call Columbia Art Center at 410-730-0075.

DISCOUNTS Individuals who live or work full-time on Columbia Association assessed

property pay the discounted “Resident” tuition for classes. All others must pay the

“Non-Resident” tuition. Access to CA facilities and programs may be denied to a Columbia

Resident (member or non-member) whose property is the subject of a covenant violation

referred to the Architectural Resource Committee for Action.

SUPPLIES Adult students are responsible for purchasing their own materials for most
