Mike’s Thoughts… This week is just an ‘ordinary’ Sunday in the church calendar. In fact, it’s considered the third Sunday in ordinary time. It is also the season of epiphany, when we celebrate Jesus coming for all people. So what makes it ordinary? Well I think it’s a misnomer. This ‘ordinary’ season calls us to remember the ministry of Jesus - a ministry of miracles and teachings. I don’t believe there is anything ordinary in that! Our re-sponse to this ‘ordinary time’ is to focus on following Jesus, on obedi-ence to His teachings, and to watching God at work in our world. There was nothing ordinary about the time of Jesus ministry, and there is noth-ing ordinary now - God is still at work!
This Sunday Pastor Ben will be bringing us back into our series on Colos-sians. This series will continue until a few weeks before Easter. I hope as we study Colossians, we are challenged and encouraged in what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.
I’m just coming back from a week of retreat where I had the chance to pray, reflect, and study. I spent time studying both the book of Ezekiel (an amazing book!) and going deeper into the book of Mark. What a blessing to have time to step out of routine and just focus on God in prayer and study. Thank you as a church, for making that possible.
