Through the years I colored many types of pages: quick panels with cutting shadows with hard study of color palette, intrincate splash pages full of characters trying to separate all levels or pages with hand painting style of color, last ones are my favorites. This profession has allowed me to make contact with editors from USA, France, UK, Holland and Spain, always trying to achieve a striking pages respecting deadlines.

Sometimes it is not easy, you know…

I like dealing with the atmosphere of a huge battle between heaven and hell, make real a duel between sword fighters for the love of a woman in the France of Louis XIII, work in a comic about police investigation in nowadays cities or invent a cinematic atmosphere for rogue vampires searching a dangerous sorcerer. I’ve also moved the light of tv series and movies to the pages and I´ve been lucky to be able to give a personal touch to some histories starting from sketches. At last I´ve been responsible of a large number of covers, trying to catch the reader’s attention in the store.

Now I want to introduce you a sample book with some of all those pages, those responsibilities and opportunities. This is my job now and I want to keep learning. The profession has trained me to calculate the dates, organize myself and try

to give each story a different point, working with colors not as a mere accessory, but integrating it into the development of the story.

I have the luck of having a partner, J.C. Ruíz. He even has more experience than me in lettering and color separation. He has worked for publishers like Marvel, Mohawk Media, Aleta or Recerca, to name a few. We can both commit to deliver full pages. We are a team with over 11 years experience and we still have passion about our career.

After viewing these pages I hope we can work together soon. -

Fran Gamboa.
