From the MTI Catalog: “IT'S ALIVE! From the creators of the record-breaking Broadway sensation “The Producers” comes this monster new musical comedy. The comedy genius Mel Brooks adapts his electrifyingly funny film into a brilliant stage creation! YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN! Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") inherits his family's estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked side-kick, Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. ‘It's alive!’ he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather's. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds. Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan sew together an immaculate blend of tongue in cheek, double entendre, and downright goofy comedic moments that are every bit as relevant to audience members who will remember the original as it will be to newcomers. YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN has all the panache of the screen sensation with a little extra theatrical flair added. It will surely be the perfect opportunity for a production company to showcase an array of talents. With such memorable tunes as "The Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and "Puttin' On The Ritz," YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is scientifically-proven, monstrously good entertainment!” YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN will be directed by Deborah Osborne (who joined CTP in our production of “Our Town”) with music direction by Catherine Carter, Technical assistance by John Ayers and Dan Caouette, Scott Cramer accompanist, and Patti Dugan-Henriksen stage manager. A New Name and By Laws For the past 40 years this organization has been called the Colonel Town Players, but due in part to a change in IRS regulations for non-profits, we have had to re-apply for our 501(c)(3) non-profit status, change our corporate name, and update our by laws. Our new name is the Colonel Town Players of Lancaster, Inc. Our bank accounts, Facebook page, and corporate papers reflect this change; we are registered as a non-profit organization with the State of New Hampshire; and have applied for non-profit status with the IRS. We will be asking the members to approve and adopt the by new laws at our annual meeting on August 24. A copy of the new by-laws is posted at our Facebook page, and may also be requested by email in advance of the meeting. Elections The CTP Board will hold elections to fill two board positions at our annual meeting on Sunday, August 24 at 6:00 PM. These positions are for three-year terms. Anyone wishing to run should attend this meeting as nominations will be made from the floor – or contact any board member to be nominated. 2013-2014 Recap Favorites Old & New! This past season was a winning combination of an old favorite – Thornton Wilder’s American classic, “Our Town,” and a recent Broadway hit – Monty Python’s “Spamalot!” Both productions brought us new cast and crew members, and were instant favorites with our audiences. “Spamalot,” was our musical directed by John Ayers, and told the story of King Arthur and knights comedic search for the holy grail. “Our Town”, was CTP’s contribution to Lancaster’s 250 th anniversary, directed by Jon Dugan-Henriksen, and was a nostalgic look at life in a small New Hampshire town of yesteryear. Looking for Adjudicators The Colonel Town Players of Lancaster, Inc. is a member of the New Hampshire Theatre Awards, which celebrates the best plays and musicals in our state, and their companies, at an awards gala each year. CTP nominees this year included Dennis MacKay, Peter Gair, Courtney Vashaw, Naomi Going, Wendy Muello, and Connor MacDonald, as well as our productions of “Spamalot” and “Death of a Salesman.” Member companies provide the adjudicators who are trained and assigned by the NHTA to see (at no charge) and review several productions each year and to submit their ratings and comments to the NHTA. Daniel Adams serves as our lead adjudicator along with Art Hammon. Trainings are held throughout the fall and winter, and CTP is always looking for members who want to be trained. If you enjoy seeing theatre – don't mind traveling – and will commit to the training and review process, please let us know and we’ll get you more information. Interested in Directing? CTP is always looking for new shows and directors to produce them. If you have seen or read a play or musical and thought, “I’d love to see CTP do that one,” then please contact the Board of Directors and propose your show! You will need to furnish a few details such as cast size, royalty/rental costs, and a working budget, but any board member will be glad to help you put together your proposal and get you started.
