LITERACY AND EDUCATION IN COLOMBIALiteracy of adults (+15)

• 81.38% in 1993

• Gap in information from 1993 to 2004

• From 2004-Present, the literacy rate has been at about 92-94%-- In rural areas the literacy rate is only 67%

• The youth literacy rate has been over 90% in both males and females since 1993, and over 95% since 1996

• Colombia scored 0.482 in the gini index in 2011, placing 91st out of 146 countries
