Number of years the collegiate has been established

At its creation within Wesley College in 1888, The Collegiate was the only secondary school in Manitoba. Today, the Collegiate is one of the best university preparatory schools in Canada. The Collegiate is the official high school for the Professional Division of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet for its students in grades 9-12. We offer a unique opportunity to attend high school at a university, and would be honoured to have you join our school community.

OUR MissionThe Collegiate at The University of Winnipeg is committed to offering Grade 9, 10, 11, and 12 students high school programs that provide a transition to post-secondary education. The Collegiate philosophy emphasizes the need for students to become mature individuals within an atmosphere of self-generated discipline, where students can discover freedom and its complement: responsibility.

To foster our mission, The Collegiate strives to provide an environment of academic freedom, mutual trust, and support, as well as on going professional development for faculty. In a world of continuing change, The Collegiate faculty strives to engage students in a rigorous curriculum that will prepare them for and encourage them to pursue a lifelong love of learning.

We seek to enable our students to reflect upon moral and ethical issues, and to develop their concern for the welfare of others. The faculty is committed to providing guidance and structure which results in our students’ intellectual, social, and personal development: in short, the education of the total person.

A FOUNDAtioN FOR SUCCESSThroughout its history, The Collegiate has maintained a unique character and has hosted generations of innovative and passionate minds. The Collegiate tradition is one of academic excellence and accessibility, in an environment of critical thinking and community spirit.

We provide students with the skills and strategies that enable them to set and meet academic and personal goals. Over many years, our Faculty has helped thousands of students achieve success by providing them with experiences that built a solid foundation for their future. Below are testimonials from just a few of our many graduates.

Daniel Bubis -1984 Collegiate GraduatePresident and Chief Investment Officer, Tetrem Capital Management

“The Collegiate is a truly unique place, where it’s about more than what you learn — it’s about the freedom to be who you are. You get the opportunity to make like-minded friends and connect with teachers who care and who treat you like an individual. The exceptional experience I had prepared me for success in further academic pursuits and in my career.”

Alana Lajoie-O’Malley - 2000 Collegiate Graduate; Rhodes Scholar, Oxford University

Manager, Campus Sustainability Office, The University of Winnipeg

“My time at the Collegiate dramatically changed my perspective on the options I had after finishing high school. I was given permission to dream big. More importantly, I was challenged to always align that dream with what my community needs and to bring a critical eye to the power and impact of my life choices and commitments.”

Parminder Singh Gill - 2011 Collegiate Graduate2nd Year pre-Med, The University of Winnipeg

“As a graduate of The Collegiate, I can tell you with confidence that the ‘university-like’ environment and friendly staff helped me excel and prepare for my university career. As a result, I am further inspired to continue my education and gain knowledge in all facets of life.”
