RESEARCH
Although I had a fairly clear idea of what I wanted to do for my magazine, I decided to look at a College Magazine called Pigeons & Peacocks.
What I found by looking at this cover is that I really liked the simplicity. The Masthead is very plain and easy to read, the colours are neutral, but have eye catching qualities.
I think the image is the focal point of the cover. It covers about 90% of the page, making it the thing that grabs your attention first. The image also has good contrast and texture, which not only draws the eye, but makes the image good to look at.
Front cover Print screens
I chose this font from the website, dafont.I thought the style and font was appropriate for a college magazine, and the target audience being students. It has a relaxed handmade feel to it,asif itcould just bedoodles on a notebook.Ithoughtthiswasa font that would attract the attention of students, and could besomething they could relate to.
I wanted to keep the theme quite neutral throughout the magazine, therefore I used a black/white/grey colour scheme, with a hint of colour for the articles that I wanted to stand out. I also decided that my main image would contain the most colour on the page as this is what I wanted to be the most attention grabbing.
These are the print screens for my contents page. I had a clear idea of what I wanted for my contents page, therefore it was pretty simple to put together on Photoshop. I wanted to continue the black/white/grey colour scheme, therefore chose to use grey colouredboxesandblacktext, with yet again just the main image to add the colour impact.

I wanted the readers to feel like they could relate to the girl on the front cover, and that they would be able to achieve what she had. I took the images outside as I wanted to use as much natural lighting as I could. I used a medium close up image and as you will be able to see I cut the image out in photo shop and also adjusted the brightness and contrast to make the colours slightly more vivid against the white back ground of the magazine front cover and contents page.

Here are thetwo images that I have selected to use for the front cover and the contents page. For me these images had the best composition and feel that I wanted to achieve with my magazine, as I said before I wanted the readers to feel they could relate to this student.
