General Information The College for Kids program serves students entering grades 4 – 9 the following school year. We design our curricula to meet the needs of the general student population.

Guidelines for Parents

• Visitthecampuspriortothefirstdayofclassessoyourchild knows where his/her classes are held. • YoumaydropoffandpickupyourchildineitherLot1or Lot3onthePleasantHillcampus.Thesearetheonlyareas that will be monitored by College for Kids staff members. College for Kids is NOT responsible for students who are dropped off / picked up in other lots. • Itisnotrequiredthatyouparkyourcarinaparkingspace duringdropoff/pickuptimesatthePleasantHillcampus. WehavecoordinatedwithPoliceServicestoallowa drive-thru procedure. • Thissummer,forsafetyreasons,parentsatthePleasant Hillcampusarerequiredtohaveanidentification/parking permit displayed in their windshield during drop off and pickuptimesregardlessofwhethertheypark.Permitsare availableinourPleasantHillofficeandarefreeofcharge. • ShouldyoudecidetoparkattheSanRamoncampus,a parkingpermitisNOTrequired.TheDROPOFFANDPICK UPlocationisinthemainparkinglotonthesouthsideof campus by the fountain.

FacultyCollege for Kids has chosen its faculty carefully to assure subject matter expertise and skill in working with young people. Many are referred by teachers and administrators in local schools. OtherinstructorsareDiabloValleyCollegefacultymembers.Allhave had practical experience with the subjects they teach and years of teaching experience.

DatesTherearetwo3-weeksessionsofCollegeforKids.ClassesareheldTuesday,WednesdayandThursday.Generallyclassesareonehourlong,withtheexceptionofaPhotographyclass,whichistwohours.Astudentcansignupforone,twoorthreeclasseseachsession,butclassesmustbeconsecutivelyscheduled.College for Kids does not provide supervision outside of class time.

Class Sizes/SectionsClassesmustenrollatleast12studentsand,inmostcases,willbelimitedto20.Classeswithenrollmentlessthan12studentsare subject to cancellation by College for Kids.

BehavioronCampusStudentsareexpectedtofollowtherulesofthecampusandtoconduct themselves in a manner which facilitates instruction and thelearningprocess.Disruptivestudentswillbedismissedfromtheprogram.Noskateboards,scootersorrollerbladesallowedoncampusatanytime.AllstudentswillhaveaCollegeforKids'identificationbadgethatMUSTbewornwhileoncampus.WrittenpermissionfromtheCollegeforKidsofficeisrequiredforstudentstoleaveclassearlyforanyreason.Visitorsintheclassroom are not permitted without prior permission of the director.

Refund PolicyStudentswhowishtodropaclassmustdosoby5p.m.nolessthan7dayspriortothestartdateortheywillNOTRECEIVEAREFUND.Refundsareprocessedthroughouronlineregistrationsite and will be credited back in the same method as the original payment. Transportation and Parking (Newguidelines,pleaseread):

Parentsareentirelyresponsibleforstudents'transportation.DROP OFF AND PICK UP is limited to Lot 1 and Lot 3 on the Pleasant Hill Campus.Staffmemberswillbeatthoselocations before and after each period to ensure the safety of everystudentastheyarriveanddepart.Itisnotrequiredthatyou park your car in a parking space. We have coordinated with PoliceServicestoallowadrive-thruprocedure.
