What is collectivisation?

• The Toz: peasants owned the land but shared the machinery and co-operated in activities such as sowing and harvesting

• The Sovkhoz: Owned and run by the state, the peasent were paid just like factory workers

• The Kolkhoz: Then land was held in common and run by a elected committee between 50-100 households were put together, so land tool and livestock had to be pooled. The peasants farmed the land was one unite, but each house hold was allowed to keep its own private plot of up too one acre.

Why collectivize:
