Collection 104 Marietta Street Construction Dates 1921-1924 Significance This collection of 80 photographs, arranged chronologically from July 1921 through

February 1923, depicts the expansion construction that more than doubled the size of the 1918 Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta building at 72 Marietta Street. These photos were originally mounted on linen in a scrapbook, since discarded because of its poor condition. Architect Ten Eyck Brown designed the 1918 building, but it has not been determined whether the same firm designed the expansion.

Collection Lamont, Thomas Wilson Dates 1894-1948 Significance In 1903 he joined Bankers Trust Company and subsequently the First National Bank of New

York. In 1911 he became a partner in J. P. Morgan & Company. His special area of expertise was international finance. In 1919 President Wilson appointed him representative of the United States Treasury to the Paris Peace Conference. After the war Lamont was a principal figure in international banking consortia assisting China, Mexico, and other countries. Lamont purchased the New York Evening Post in 1918 and owned it for four years.

international finance and monetary issues. White served in the United States Department of the Treasury from 1934 to 1946, rising to the position of Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, and was one of the principal architects of the Bretton Woods agreements in 1944 that established the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Collection Keyserling, Leon H. Dates 1923-1989 Significance Council of Economic Advisers, 1946-1953. The papers of Leon H. Keyserling

document his entire career as an activist economist devoted to liberal causes. Keyserling himself compiled and bound the remarkable series of articles and reports he wrote, the speeches and testimony he gave, and the newspaper clippings that recorded the events of his long career. These series constitute about two-thirds of the collection. Most of the remainder consists of files of memoranda, correspondence, reports and transcripts of testimony that document Keyserling's work as Vice Chairman, Acting Chairman, and Chairman of President Truman's Council of Economic Advisers.

Collection Anderson, Robert B. Dates 1933-1989 Significance In July 1957 Anderson returned to Washington, DC, to become Secretary of the

Treasury, and continued in the position until the end of the Eisenhower administration. In January 1961 he moved to New York City where he became an international investment specialist. However, he continued to serve President Eisenhower’s successors in a variety of special positions. In 1963 President Kennedy appointed Anderson to a special committee to study the U.S. foreign aid program. In 1967 President Johnson appointed him to a special committee to study the federal budget. His most significant government service, however, involved the Panama Canal.

Collection Viner, Jacob Dates 1909-1979 (mostly 1930-1960) Significance Jacob Viner (1892-1970) is considered one of the greatest economists of the

twentieth century. His career was spent at the University of Chicago and Princeton University, and he also frequently served as an advisor to the United States government. His primary academic interests included international economics, international economic relations, and the history of economic thought, but his investigations ranged across many disciplines. Viner's papers document his scholarship, as well as his government service, and include correspondence, manuscripts, reports, and research materials. Collection Kent, Fred I. Dates 1901-1954 (mostly 1920-1950) Significance Fred I. Kent (1869-1954) was a banker who spent the majority of his career at

Bankers Trust Company in New York. He was an expert on foreign exchange, and during World War I and its aftermath was involved with establishing foreign exchange policies, reparations, and war debt. Kent was also active in numerous organizations, including the American Bankers Association and the International Chamber of Commerce.
